I like the mildly cartoony look. In epic fantasy, I actually prefer cartoon-style imagery to photorealism. I tend to think of fantasy (even in its darker varieties) as fairy tales for adults, and I find that cartoony art direction contirubtes to a sense of fairy-tale-inspired otherworldliness. Probably because of all the Disney movies I watched as a child.
So it's not that I don't like the new art style. Quite the opposite, actually. But given the more photorealistic approach in DAO, the new style might make it a bit difficult to feel like I'm returning to the same world.

Only thing I don't like is the actually backdrop. The ground has a very very low resolution. Prob because of development, but still worrisome.

While the graphic is still sort of "meh" I think it has potential. I like the white city and the white haired woman (is she confirmed to be flemeth?).
The armour seems interesting.

Seriously learn to do backgrounds and skys Bioware It's ****ing easy and you did in KOTOR and ME why do you fail so badly with it in Dragon Age? It's like the easiest part of making good graphics and yet it's very important as backgrounds and skys take up a large part of the screen which just makes the fail all the more inexcusable.
It's weird tbh.

Why the boring grey/white skys and single coloured mountain silhouettes á world of warcraft?

I agree completely. That said, from the Game Informer article on the art, the Art Director did say they were working alot on the lighting and having epic landscapes and terrain. Maybe it will look better in the actual game. But I'm tired of the boring overcast, hazy skies in DA.

I mean, there must be something wrong with them as in low res developement or... or something... they just cant be any real indication of what the game will accually look like.
I mean your "new art direction" simply cant be THAT horrible

My point is though, visual changes should look like ME1 to ME2. they should be the same art "style" just improved on.
It almost looks as if they are going for some abstract or almost cell shaded look. sorta like SW:TOR will be.
Once again though. That cant be. I refuse it. I'm gonna hope that during the next few months we will see how different these screens are from the final product....
