I'd like to know if that really is Kirkwall.

There is just something extremely "Bad Goth Halloween Costume" looking about the pointy black strap on armor

Seriously though, look at the crest on Flemeth's forehead
and look at the crest on the helmets of those hurlocks
Very similar. Though the hurlocks' has a longer horizontal span.
What's on the hurlock's heads (there are two wearing htis in this pic) looks more like a sort of kettle hat to me...

Since we have only seen one scene from the game... all the ingame pics (exept for the 3 just showing walls and some overgrown stairs) have shown the same battle scene.Roland Aseph wrote...
What's with all the angles?
And bland landscapes......
I'll admit that the close ups of the faces look ok...it's the whole color scheme (washed out?) and the actual design of the armor and such (extremely stylized and corny looking imo) and the plain jane surroundings that just yell "fail" in my head every time I see a scene from this game
/sigh

My thoughts exactly.

If Flemeth is their leader, it would at least explain why they look different.
But shes not, right? In a caption of a GI screen it says the dragon swoops down clutching a darkspan in it's hand only to later shapeshift into a familiar person; Flemeth (or something like that)

But what about the falcons?
EDIT: Sorry, couldn't resist. I dunno, it could be a Xanatos Gambit she's playing, similar with saving the Warden. In any case, I don't really believe that, but at least it'd explain their retconned looks.

Man, expand it up and see how low res the textures are. They are awful so low res that they appear as blotches of paint than fabric or metal. Oh my god this game looks terrible. What the hell is hot about it? Seriously? Nothing. It should be cancelled and re-fitted to the Cryengine.

The falcons didn't make it. They tried to make a stand with the sparrows. But they ended up getting into a pecking contest. Plus, the sparrows were promised rum, and it got out that it was gone.

Three words for you; Pre-Alpha-Render.
Do you really think Bioware are already finished with the models and the textures?

These new screens also prove, however, that Hawke hasn't actually gray hair -that's just the reflection map on his hair/beard. Therefore he probably is quite a bit younger than I originally, thought.
Still, all in all, I don't think the graphic is *too* bad. It'll probably suffice. Still hope they introduce some better lightening and bump maps, though.

I sure hope BioWare doesn't stick with the awful staff-in-one-hand movement animation that was in DAO. That was just ridiculous to watch. Way worse than the two-handed sword animations.
And the new darkspawn, as always, look awful.

Epic video.
Regardless, I'm liking the textures on the characters, looks like an improvement. The ground on the other hand.....

Somehow it looks like Bethany and Hawke have *really* greasy hair. I don't get it. Why does hair need a reflection map ?

Actually, I was under the impression that the 'shiny' in their hair was a combat effect, like song of courage. All sparkly 'n stuff.
If so, awesome, they toned it way down.

Chill Hero, as has been said many times on these forums, it's NOT final. In fact these graphics remind me very much of what DA looks like if you turn thegraphics down to lowest. That's probably it. Bad publicity tactic, yes,but still not what we'll see on the shelves.
Also, for anyone who's read The Calling: ever think these may not be darkspawn at all, but ghouls? Look at the eye colour, and what's coming out of 'em.

Hmm...might be an explanation. I hope so. Otherwise the hair would just look plastic/greasy.Altima Darkspells wrote...
