The last couple city ones look very striking- the lighting in particular. Maybe a bit too sterile for my liking, but I wonder if those are concept art or in game?

Origins wasn't that much bigger than ME2. It had no excuse to look as bad as it did. The same applies to this.Johnny Shepard wrote...
Well, they had to think of something new because if the game is going to be as big as DAO then they have only 2 choices:
1. Have de same crappy graphics as DAO had (seriusly, DAO is far from the best looking game out there)
2. A new graphic style that doesnt take as much room on the disk. I think thats why they went with the cartoon/anime style.
You can't put just as much stuff on a DVD as you want. You can't have a game that looks as good as Mass Effect but is as big as Baldur's Gate, on one disc. Unless they skipp XBox 360 and just release on PS3.
I think it will look bether when we se the trailer and se it i motion.

She looked bland as hell before.
Fantasy game, remember, cleavage, tight fitting suits and all that crap.

there's gonna be some sort of explanation as to why Hawke can get up

The architecture is impressive (though sterile), but the Darkspawn models really look like they're from Quake II or something. Not to mention the awful face texturing...they've gone from looking kind of scary in DAO to just looking like block people with bad psoriasis.

Awesome. It's so cool to see the "before" and "after" of Flemeth's transformation. I can't wait to see it in action.Brockololly wrote...
I don't like the new look for darkspawn, and I have concerns regarding the framed narrative structure in terms of depth, but for the most part, every new thing I see makes me more excited for this game.

THIS is how the game is going to look guys...I know many of you want to claim it's Pre-Pre-Pre-Pre-Pre Alpha or whatever...but apparently this is the new minimalist style!

Matt Goldman, the art director, lists two major inspirations for the new art style.
"This picture(for the atmosphere of "a horde of horrible and merciless creatures coming from nowhere")
And this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050613/
Throne of Blood
(a more simplified and abstract background to concentrate viewer/player's attention on the characters and important details)
Matt also made a remark that this doesn't mean the whole game will have simple environments like the desert we have seen. Everything is still very detailed, just more stylized."
Yes, MUCH more stylized that looking like crap!!!
FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but if there's any reason for me to want them to improve their graphics, it's just to throw it back in the face of overreacting fans.
Sorry, I call it the way I see it and ALL I've seen thus far is a ridiculous, over the top, so called new and improved "style" that looks like pure crap.
The "style" is NOT going to change!
You might get some slightly better looking environments, but the god awful designs and look with an intended defined "minimalist" approach to the whole look and feel of the graphics, as stated by the Art Director...how much do you "really" think it's going to change???
Hope you like feathers lol
(would be funny if it weren't so sad and appalling)
Yeah... I think you're at a 10 when you need to be at a 2. It's not the end of the world if the game ends up not being appealing to you.

Dunno why, but just from the looks of the screenshots I feel she'll be the secret side antagonist puppetmaster, who'll make you do her bidding, without you even knowing it and will escape your wrath again into DA3 where she'll be the main bad gal :9
Oh and I hope we'll see the cities from the angle introduced here, because it really looks nice and quite unique. To the difference of those darkspawn (Are they even that? They look like another Architec't failed attempt/byproduct), whic are the lame kind of ugly I think xD .

We got very limited information on pretty much everything.
But in the interest of keeping the darkspawn down with our negativity.
I think the Darkspawn in thouse screenies look like something out of a post apocalyptic 80's movie!. Dumdum!.

Did I say it was the "end of the world"? No.
But imo it's a crying shame to to something so brilliantly done (DAO) reduced to a drab, over stylized GWAR cartoon.
And since they're supposedly courting us all to be perspective purchasers of the game, I'll voice my opinions and what i think as much as I care to thank you very much.
If you think it looks great, goodie for you...I don't.

If there's anything I'm hoping for, as far as the graphics are concerned, it's that it'll require less from my system.
I wouldn't really have cared had they just used what DA:O had (style and all) for the sequel.
I'm more concerned about the story/character development. Followed by 'atmosphere' (e.g., if it's 'dark fantasy', does it convey it well? visually? by ambient sound and music? etc.). Followed by game mechanics. Followed by 'game stability'. Then, after that, maybe I'd be think about graphics.
There are other upcoming CRPGs with 'sharper' graphics, anyway. (and while it could be argued the BioWare could do better graphics or art style-wise...I don't really care for that argument
I'm still disappointed about my Warden, tho'
(bring him/them back in DA3? yes?

So it seems we can make a few conjectures on how the Flemeth encounter proceeds. The responses on the dialogue wheel are interesting, considering this information.
Is he talking to Bethany or Flemeth in that dialogue shot? I want to say Bethany, simply because I can't imagine Flemeth being so agreeable that Hawke would be so enthusiastic as to say "I'm right beside you" to her.
On the other hand, who is "they" referring to in the middle choice? The Darkspawn they just killed (I say "just killed" because they are already blood-spattered, and I doubt they'd stop for a chat if any were still alive)? Does the bottom choice indicate trying to attack Flemeth (not that winning would necessarily be possible)?
My guess is he's talking to Bethany, and she's sort of asking him what to do, and she wants to run rather than fight. I'm trying to figure out what she could possibly have said that all three of those work as responses. But I'd bet money that it's about or to Flemeth.
