Was there ever a fix for a corrupted save?

At least I think there may be something corrupted in the save data.  I'm stuck on the Ebon Hawk and cannot warp anywhere--it crashes if I attempt to select a planet.  This is the third one, so it was working prior to now.  I can exit and roam the planet but nothing I can do seems to self-correct the problem.  It doesn't seem to be an error with loading movies because I tested those and they work fine.  I even tried playing with them removed from the directory and there was no difference.

I recall the same thing happening under KOTOR2 and I think I fixed it by editing savenfo.res to change LASTMODULE to set me on another planet, and then it self-corrected after playing for a bit.  For some reason I can't seem to do that this time.  Every time I change ebo_m12aa to something else the save fails to load.  It worked once with Dantooine but I discovered another problem*

It seems like a frequent bug considering I also had it the last time I played these games, so I was hoping there might be a well known fix out there.  Otherwise, any other suggestions would be welcome.  Is there a way to actually generate a log file so I could get some sense of _why_ it's crashing?  I noticed there's a log directory, but Bioware seems to have helpfully neglected to implement it and no entry in the swkotor.ini to toggle it.

And sadly, I was alternating between two saves just in case something like this occurred, but both of them experience the same exact bug.

*Apparently KOTOR may take snapshots of your game status in various areas, because loading on Dantooine reverted my character to a previous level and equipment.  I would be willing to do this if I could get a more recent module to load, but like I said that was the only one to work so far.

Addendum: I don't think it is corrupted save data. I disabled all the graphics features and got past two movies before it hung on a black screen. Yet I can't reproduce this on the second, third, fourth, etc. attempts so I'm stumped how to get around this crash.

Well i dont know if some1 will reply here, but i think i have similar problem. It was all good and playable, and then it suddenly started to crash. For example i cant exit Ebon Hawk on Tatooine, its just crashes in main menu. Or when loading some areas screen just turns black and nothing happens. So maybe some1 knows if that can be fixed or this is it, need to start new game.
