I have Windows 7 64-bit and whenever I try to launch Mass Effect the game crashes and gives me this error:
"General protection fault!
History: GMatrix2D::Swap() Address = 0x10bb5676 (filename not found) [in
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mass Effect\\Binaries\\MassEffect.exe]
Address = 0x16bb3ee4 (filename not found)"
My DxDiag
Mass Effect loads and then crashes

Personally, I get almost nothing back from a DxDiag report. Did you see the sticky in which I quoted Chris Priestley on how to make a report?

It looks to me like you have an Intel graphics chip. I'm afraid you need a dedicated card from ATI or Nvidia for the ME games.

I always use this before I buy a game:

While it is not 100% accurate, it will give you a good idea if your PC can run a game. Also, Intel graphic cards just can not handle modren games.

I always tell anyone who writes such a thing that you are doing any reader a terrible disservice. SR Labs is an amateur lashup that is wrong so very often that it is nothing more than a laughing stock, the butt of bad jokes. Never, EVER be so boorish as to name such a place to anyone else!
If you want to play PC games in spite of a having bad attitude toward learning about PC Hardware, then use the Game-o-Meter at YouGamers.

I as well tend to perfer SR Labs over the Game-o-Meter. I like SR Labs detailed information as to why my system does or does not meet game requirements when compared to the simplistic design of Game-o-Meter which gives no specific details buy only gives the GPU, memory, & CPU.
As far as SR Labs being wrong I have as of yet to see it.
Tested these and they match in each application:
Alpha Protocol
BioShock
BioShock2
Blur
Dragon Age: Origins
Just Cause
Just Cause 2
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Metro 2033
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty
Test Drive Unlimited 1
Test Drive Unlimited 2
Name one game that doesn't match in both applications and I'll retract that otherwise it stays

Under what configuration?
I have no experience with Game-o-meter. Nor a lot with SR labs, but I can tell you there have been a few people who came here complaining ME wouldn't run on their below-min-spec graphics that Can You Run It? cleared.

Oh now I see: Doesn't run on their PC but the sites say their computers can run it? Probably due to their graphics card being misinterpreted as another card (it can happen-it has to me). Most common if its a laptop graphic card. Do they go by minimum or recomended settings? I go by minimum settings (major aesthetic graphics are not important to me). I game at 800x600 for crying out loud; how many still do that?
Personally I have experienced just the opposite with both applications (Game-o-meter & SR labs):
Four of the games in the list above said my pc couldn't run them in both applications but in reality they ran fine on my pc:
Metro 2033
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Test Drive Unlimited 1
Just Cause 2

Jonte135, there are hundreds or perhaps thousands of people who get crashes with that exact same error message with this game. Run the error message through Google and you should be able to find it on the first page. I myself had it, too, although not under the same circumstances as you. It differs drastically from system to system. In my case, the solution was to remove all of the INI files from my C:\\Games\\Mass Effect directory (removing the ones from My Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect didn't help) and replacing them with copies from a backup. If you like, I can send you "clean" copies, since (unlike the INI files in My Documents) the game doesn't create new ones when starting the game after you delete the old ones.

He would be wasting his time. Intel doesn't care to produce game-capable chips for their onboard graphics solutions, and hasn't tried selling an actual graphics CARD since their single attempt (failed badly) twelve years ago.

You're almost certainly right, but it would only take a few minutes to try my solution. My offer stands.

It's probably not even 10% accurate. When it scans the GPU it looks for memory and features. If you have an Intel chipset with 1GB RAM (useless), T&L and shader 4.0 then according to SRL's system your IGP is more powerful than a geforce 9800 GTX with 512MB RAM, for instance. SRL is almost always wrong when judging an entry level GPU because of this because lots of crappy cards have shader 4.0 and more RAM than is useful.DarkWaterSong wrote...
