Though I found that I had to up my gamma in NWN2 Options by 2 clicks (VERY slight) to get the same vibrance I was getting with 196.21 .
I just ordered a MSI 465 gts Fermi 1GB (newegg 7-21 is last day for $203)(or is that a no-no here?) and will use this thread to post successes on that.
Make sure anything new you get has at least 1GB memory on the vid card. NWN2 uses close to 800MB.
Note, I was using this driver quite successfully on XP SP3 a couple of days age. I decided to see how it worked on my Win7 build, and it's great.
KrisM77:
Hi, I have a Hanns-G 28'' as well and love it. I used to run on 1600x1200 resolution on a 19'' CRT, and went from an 8500GT to a GTS 250 1GB. NWN2 was running pretty well with the GPU upgrade, but could have been better, due to a CPU bottle neck I have.
I got the Hanns-G 28'' monitor, and, of course, I took a major performance hit. As a result, I am now playing NWN1 again.
Please let me know how your FPS is with your current configuration.
Best regards,
Belnor.

I am actually running on a different monitor but I too am running 1920x1200 resolution. I just had a thread open dedicated to a new video card purchase I was about to make and deciding what would run at 1920x1200 hopefully at max settings. My card should be here tomorrow so I will let you know how everything works out. I had previously been using a GTX280 and had settings very close to max at 1920x1200. I think some areas are bottle-necked by something other than video card. Maybe Hard Disk? I think it would be an interesting test to maybe load and try running the game from a very fast SSD.

Hi cliff_g:
Yes, please do keep me updated on your results. I want the full shadows on with silky smooth FPS in all areas, regardless of the amount of PCs. I am willing to make the proper investment in this in the future, adn look forward to your input on this. The game simply looks amazing with max shadows on.

I agree, we need a NWN2 Tech Sticky that has these things confirmed so that new people and old people know how to make the game look awesome!
Seconded. Votes for submission to stickied status. I think this is very important, we need to see what works, and what doesn't. Not just talking about GPUs either.

I do not think NWN2 takes advantage of multicore so only the 80-100% I think should matter. Also, sometimes for multicore it helps to set processor affinity to a specific core to keep it on the least used.
Well, I have "plans" for a month from now, for a $100 cpu upgrade that should OC up to 4ghz, so I guess that will tell me.

As a side note, if you're reading 80c, the internals of the chip are probably anywhere from 3-8c higher minimum, due to dispersion of heat as it reaches the surface of the package. (It's always nice to have semiconductor testing friends. In this case, my wife, who works for AMD is a QA testing engineer -- and now AMD = ATI ) and depending on the package type, that temperature difference can be as high as 12c.
So yeah, do keep it under 80c.

What DNO suggests about core temps is correct, the core can very be several degrees hotter than where the sensors are mounted for GPU temp measurements and it is safer, to assume that the core temp is about 10C hotter than the displayed temps.
The various tuners can be used to manually control cooling fan speeds, but I wonder if any have the capability to change automatic fan controller speeds to lower temperature settings in order to keep the fan speed slightly ahead of the actual default settings to help keep temp build-up down.
Some will argue that the Fermi processors normally run hotter, but the only offical word on their specs is that the max temp is 105C, the same for the 8800 through the 400 series GPUs. I have heard of some running the things up to 105C and higher, but IMHO, that is courting premature failure.
For those not as familiar with the Celsius Scale, here is what the temps break down to compared to Fahrenheit
105C = 221F
100C = 212F (water boils at this temp)
90C = 194F
80C = 176F
70C = 158F
60C = 140F
