You know, this is something that has bugged me a lot. I HATE chainmail bikinis. They just make no SENSE! Why would anyone ever wear something like that? Especially in freezing cold weather.basdoorn wrote...
When we are on the female character subject anyway: no more bikini armor for female fighters please. If that is really needed to sell your game to 14-16 year old boys, give it a somewhat realistic 60% armor penalty and add 10% additional fatique and a penalty to attack speed for every size over normal sized bodily features.

I want from DA2's marketing the same thing I wanted from ME2 (and didn't get, obviously).
Both a male and female version of the character standing together, with the tagline: "YOU ARE HAWKE, CHAMPION OF KIRKWALL". Or, actually, maybe better: "WHO IS THE CHAMPION OF KIRKWALL? YOU DECIDE"
Play up to choice and customisation angles.
Because, honestly, I bet there were no small number of people who thought Sheploo was the only "main character" of ME2 and didn't even realise that you could chance his appearance, or be female.
Indeed. If you offer ways of customisation, why not use it in your marketing?

The heart of the issue is not that we are bothered by the pictures of the male warrior, nor that we are trying to encroach upon male representation. What bothers me, at least, is the omission, the lack of a female counterpart. It is the empty space which I find dissuading. We are not asking that the man on the advertising be replaced with a woman, but that he be joined by a woman.

a bit late with this method to persuade them now that they remove background and racial choice and most likely limit look costumization somewhat too

You do realise that you do not know that to be untrue. While game companies advertising implies I am right as they are not idiots.trying_touch wrote...

I believe its a fact that most users will be male so they go with a male character. Simple logic.
Girls into these games will not be put off by a male advert while some lads will be put off by a female ad. (their mates may call them gay or some such juvenile mentality)
Most girls will be just so happy they can actually play as a girl in game they will be delighted, considering the heavy male orientation of most games. This makes it obvious to use a male advert.
you don't know that...
maybe that's why she's complaning... she's put off by the male-driven ads...

Hmm, I wouldn't say "experienced"... and of which I played most are not known for their great graphics so don't await that from them. Also do you consider visual novels as JRPG or do you exclude them? (some people do include it) Will japanese-style games also work for you if they were made in the west? If so one of the games I suggest to play for the greatness of story and setting would be Septerra Core which was too underrated, and if you don't mind adventure games then Shadow of memories is great. If you don't mind mature themed RPG/strategy games then Tears to Tiara is good, there is an english patch for it.
If you are into simple games but with good story you should try the Aveyond series
Guess Tears of Tiara may best fit my style. Thx.

If you define a bit better what you seek I can name more
and if you really want to try out adult TtoT you better play the original first one made for PC as newer versions got censured

well...yeah at least thats what my experience tells me: if theres a girl on a counterstrike server or something its pretty embarassing to watch the other guys running after her like there were no girls in real life... suddenly all try to be "heroes" and have a perfect action style, as if there werent girls in the real life and this would be their only hope for a relationship or something, while in other games like (carefully be prepared im going to out myself as ex wow-player) wow woman are something much more normal....

For counterstrike players, the girl in the game probably IS, in fact, the only one they´ll ever meet:unsure:

Well it´s a bit hard to say what I seek because, as said, I don´t know anything about JRPGs.
Usually I play mostly Dragon Age, Warcraft3, Alien vs Predator, Heroes of Might and Magic, and I used to play a lot of Total War. That kind of stuff.

Well, they´re the majority, it´s ok to discriminate against a majority.
Unless it´s the Chinese communists, in that case it can lead to being murdered:unsure:

then probably you never played any visual novel at all, try 11eyes, Air, Clannad, or Fate/Stay Night if you are interested in the genre
PS: if you start to play TtoT you better play it till the end and only then decide if you liked it or not, most of the japanese games are no easy to figure out by just playing a few hours

Not really those armor, even if id did not cover the whole body, at least protected the vital organs of the torso. But running around with an exposed belly, so that the first sword swing of your opponent will literally make you spill your guts is a prerogative of females in fantasy games.joriandrake wrote...

I have nothing against revealing armor, but I find it annoying if armor that consist of two 50c coins, tooth-floss and a plate-mail thong on a female toon suddenly morphs into a suit covering everything from head to toe if you put it on a male toon.Tirigon wrote...

AoC for example is good in that regard because the armor for both male and female toons is equally revealing.
