That our society does not think of a woman with equal possibility as a man for a cool hero character.

I'd be happy to accept that if you can back it up with statistics, else it's just your perception of what "society" thinks and is not necessarily correct. I can think of quite a few games that sport a female protagonist.

I would like that list, please. Western games with female protagonists? For my own playing, if nothing else. Because last I checked, for every one game with a heroine there are a few dozen with a hero.

Also, here is a statistic that relates to movies, on this issue.

Aveyond series (most of the time)
Septerra Core
The Longest Journey series
Keepsake
Still Life series
Venetica
Syberia series
Tomb Raider series

just to name a few in a minute

Oh please - Tomb Raider... Really... <_<

It DOES have a female protagonist, just as the main character is female in Tresure Hunter and Xena

I'm not entirely sure how anyone is going to look at a woman clad in full armour standing in front of a dragon drawn with dripping blood and think it's a girl's game, but maybe I'm underestimating market idiocy.

Also I find it fascinating that you're telling me to get involved and then telling me to stop bringing the issue to attention.

The female/male ratio is closer to 35:75 than the 5:95 people assume. We're a minority market, yes. But we're a market.

This is a very old post, and by all rights i shouldn't even be posting on this so late..... but:

Your logic is flawed.. i agree with most of your posts, but the bold statement above is absurd. You expect males to do exactly what you are not doing... by your logic this entire argument is based on "market idiocy" on the part of women, who think; "oh a male covered in blood on the cover, must be a guy's game"

I don't disagree that female gamers are underrepresented; however, i don't like when feminism turns into a power struggle for top-dog. equality should be its only goal.

Are you serious?

I'm afraid they are :D. However, as long as it suits my agenda of world domination sporting Megan Fawkes on DA2's front cover, I'm with em.

Man you made my day :D. Put Megan on the front cover, else it's a boycott :D

I'm just saying, technically speaking, Hawke is both a Male and Female protagonist...

So what if Hawke is being advertise as a Guy?

In the games that you mentioned in your OP you mentioned protagonists who were strictly female, but DA and ME is different, in both games you can play as either male or female.

As far as I understand it , we would like to have Female Hawke as well as the Male one, not instead of the Male one.

Hopefully once more screenshots/videos are released they can show off a female version of the player character more, and make it clearer that they are presenting a product where you can play male or female.

I dont think it goes as far as that.  Some females just want sceenshots and dont want her hidden until 3 days before release.

Women overreacting to the smallest details as usual...Just kidding.
They want some Females being advertised as well as males.
Devs came by trying to help them understand. It was a no go.
Now we sit here with 2-3 groups with opposing opinions and no one will give in.
Thus more arguing.
