The subprime mortgage crisis caused underfunding of public works projects?

It pretty much caused underfunding of everything, since it caused the so-called recession that we're going through, as of lately.

Sorry,  I just could not resist it. :crying::P

Back to the topic, I just do not understand why some people are against showing more of FemHawke in marketing - I doubt that one or two promotional images will hurt...

I guess some stereotypes are there for a reason.

Hi, everyone, economy's not the topic of the thread. You can talk in PMs, if you like.

Meanwhile:

Need more estrogen, BioWare!

I'd like to think they didn't so much give up on us, as respect our ability to discuss a sticky subject rationally, without a referee. When they give up on us, they'll kill the thread.

Call me whatever names you like BUT, typical reaction when economy is the topic of discussion :P.

Btw fyi I replied to alleged correlations between job equality and the state of economy - as relevant to the topic as feminism is.

Personally? I'd rather campaign for Megan Fawkes on DA2's front cover.

Ugh, I'm terrible at putting my point across. Here, let me find a thread where I explained the issue...

/shrug. I don't have anything against romance in particular, in fact, Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books (and see signature), but sex/romance is not something I look at or care about in games. I didn't romance anyone in ME2. I guess you could have also mentioned the guy who refers to your "assets" in the renegade mission, but I'm sure most of us just killed him at that point. And as for a male Shepard looking more natural in cutscenes, I don't know. I never got past the male voice acting, which I thought was inferior. The female animation for running was definitely off in DA:O, because male and female characters used the same skeleton, I understand.

Lots of women who play feel as if they're gender is just not being
acknowledged--but there's plenty of manly men moments, as well as a
masculine feel over the entire game.

Well, like I said, she's a Marine.  I don't know if Bioware is aware of this, but in my personal experience it's considered bad form to acknowledge gender difference, unless it's necessary (for example, selecting women to perform searches on females at a checkpoint).  Furthermore, I'd bet many women in the military have found it has a very masculine feel with plenty of "man moments."

I'm simply saying that some names sound masculine, sound like they belong to a guy over a girl. Hawke is one of those--again, I'm fine with that. Some people aren't, and I'm pointing out why.

I'm curious, is that because certain last names actually sound masculine, or because culturally it's more common for men to go by last names than it is for women? The latter has been my experience, at least. Or is it that we associate certain names with famous people and assign gender based on that association? Boys named Lincoln, for example, are almost certainly named after the US President of that name. Or, "Tony Hawk?" Is Stewart a woman's last name, or a man's? How about Roosevelt?
