Y'know. Guild Wars did this a lot. They put a female class up front and in the background a male class. In all the advertising they show a female, usually not in suggestive clothing, but what they actually wear in game.



That being said, I always play a male character (or a robot, if I can) I don't care either way, but showing the canon Male Hawkes is probably the "best" way of doing it.

I dunno about stereotypes, but that is a good point about this situation. I think we can all agree that BioWare's marketing sucks irrespective of whether they include the female protagonist or not (THIS IS THE NEW SHIIIIT!!! *awkward blank background*). So if it sucks a little more to you because there is no female protagonist shown, well, we must keep this in perspective. How the game is marketed is meaningless to how the game actually is.
