On a side note I love that when you first meet Alistair of you ask hit about Daveth he wonders why Duncan would want someone like him. Just a nice little thing for those of us that read The Calling. So yes please more Dragon Age books!! Also anything else you write even if its not Dragon Age would be good too.
Dear Mr. Gaider please write more books.

Would love to see you develop your prose-writing skills. I really, really enjoyed the DA books, and like I said, I'm a very tough critic.
Thanks. I'd love to write more books, but we shall see whether or not that happens. We have a pretty short development cycle on DA2 (as you can see) so time really is the limiting factor, here. Maybe someone else might write some DA novels, who knows?

I've spoken about this before. I think fanfiction is marvelous, and the idea that people out there feel enough affection for and ownership over characters I've created to write for them-- well, that's just dandy. That said, I can't read it. I'm too close to my characters to really get into someone else speaking through their mouths, but I'm fine with them wanting to. I say "go fanfiction!" ...but I do so from over here, where it's safe._Dejanus wrote...
Mr. Gaider, somewhat unrelated, but I have long wondered about your personal stance on Fan Fiction. I tend to collect the stances of authors I favor on the subject, and I consider it a hobby to keep up with the debate between pro and anti-fanfic authors. George R. R. Martin, for example, has an outspoken distaste for the stuff and I am aware that his A Song of Ice and Fire books at least somewhat influenced Dragon Age.
Will you humor me?

Quick question David, what time it is now where you are?

Well that really depends on what I'm eating it with, doesn't it? Overall I'd have to say gouda.leonia42 wrote...
While we have your attention, what's your favourite kind of cheese, Mr. Gaider?
And damn you for bringing it up. I don't get much cheese on my diet. <_<

You manipulate them, but they still respond with the voice the writer is providing. It's sort of like writing several different conversations at once, sometimes.Addai67 wrote...
It's interesting that you say you're too close to your characters to read others' writing through them. Yet in the game, many different outcomes and permutations can occur as we manipulate the NPCs' lives. I would guess you have your "favorite" outcomes for them?
I was a bit sad that the plot that delved more into his motivations got cut. Lamentable part of game development, I'm afraid. That was part of the motivation behind going more into it in the Stolen Throne. Overall, yes, I'm very happy with how he turned out. I prefer villains who do things because they believe they are right-- in my opinion, that's exactly the sort of villain you're bound to find in real life.Majin Paul wrote...
While you're here David, I'm wondering, do
you like how Loghain turned out? In your books, he was an interesting
character who was patriotic but he turned quite paranoid and quite an
ass, would you say he's one of your favourite characters?

I'd say Kell. He's based on a good friend of mine, and that scene near the end (you know the one I'm talking about) sort of broke my soul. Why I consider that a good thing, I have no idea, but I do.Suicider_11 wrote...
By the way, Mr Gaider, who is your favorite character in "The Calling"? Duncan and Kell were my favorite Grey wardens in the Novel.
I think Alistair would do his best imitation of Arnold's "What'chu talkin' bout, Willis?"I just wonder what Alistair might think of the Grey Wardens if he knew how Duncan was recruited considering his "knight in shining armor" mentality and very moral/chantry influenced decisions . Its also very funny thinking about how Daveth joined the order. A thief caught by another thief. hehehehe

LOL I know. Poor guy.
Also, he's a workaholic. Who answers forum posts at this hour?
Someone who's getting ready to head to bed-- which I will now do, although unintentionally turning the thread into "Ask Dave a question" was certainly interesting and all.

Well that much I can answer-- they are indeed available in German. I just received my copy of "Der Ruf der Grauen Wächter" yesterday.Tirigon wrote...
And I´m not even sure if they are available in German at all, I ordered them in the internets in english.
