I think it's more likely that she wants Hawke to succeed in gaining power, maybe so she can ask a favour of him in the future, or maybe because it'll help her grand plans somehow. She is a bit of a Magnificent Bastard.

These two are definitely onto something. Xox nailed the situation, I think (perhaps they're not surrounded by darkspawn, but a similar threat in which Hawke and Beth can't escape).
And Kandene might've nailed what Flemeth's goal in this game is--to get Bethany into a similar role as Morrigan from Origins. Maybe Flemeth is looking to trap another soul of a God into a baby. Maybe she wants Bethany to be her new body.
Or maybe it'll be 7 months before the real answers are revealed.

As I said before, Flemeth seems like the machine under the island on Lost. No one knows exactly how it works, but it pretty much controls everything.

If she was, that would mean that she knew that Morrigan would eventually find out about the possesion and had already switched targets before The Warden confronts her.
Maybe Morrigan even knew of it before, but who knows.

I just want to kill the ****. Full companion? Not in my game.
Also, if Hawke is a female mage like her sister - this makes the situation especially interesting. 1 mage is OK, 2 mages = quarrel, 3 mages = full-sized war.
