There was a quite a lot of discussion about this sort of thing over on the old boards. There were several people who were long time Bioware fans that were fairly disappointed with the fact that ME was going toward more a more shooter style of game, some to the point of not buying the game.

Not everybody has good pattern recognition and hand eye coordination. While lacking those might make the combat harder I don't think it would make it unplayable, you don't have to go for head shots all the time and if you play on lower difficulties it's easy enough to play a heavy power using class and not have to worry too much about the shooter mechanics. It would make the hacking and bypass minigames more difficult.

More difficult, true, but shouldn't be impossible, unless he/she has a disease like Parkinson's or some other muscular control destroying disease. The operative words are MORE DIFFICULT not impossible. The problem I have is, he didn't come onto the board and say, "Hey people, the bpyass game is really hard for me, do you have any suggestions on how to make it easier, since I don't seem to be good at that sort of thing." He came to complain and whine about it being hard for a "old" man of 63, and about wasting money.

If he had asked for help, I would have been much nicer to him, and been happy to explain that you only need to remember one symbol at a time. That the lines actually go to the next symbol, and that you can follow them to the general area so you have a better idea where to look. I would also mention that the important bypasses are all unlimited chances with only money and non-critical items being one chance only. The first safe you find has unlimited chances so you can practice on it for the game. I would also mention the timer that shows in the chosen dots in the form of a decreasing circle to let you know when a dot is going to be unchosen automatically. I would also mention the upgrade that doubles the time on Illium, but you only get that after recruiting the first 4 squad members on missions.

But help wasn't the purpose of the OP's thread, he was here to complain as a salve for his soul maybe?? I don't see the point of just whining about something without seeking help to get you through, reminds me too much of my 2 year old.

Has anybody here given this guy the benefit of the doubt? It's not fair to say "I'm 39, he's 63, so he should be able to do things as well as I am" because the fact is, fluid intelligence peaks at youth and declines over time, so older people do have more difficult facing problems in new or unknown situations. Crystallized intelligence accumulates over time and has more to do with memory and experience than problem solving.

THE GAMES DON'T TAKE INTELLIGENCE, they take pattern recognition and hand eye cordination.  You look at a pattern, check the symbol, find the other symbol and move the mouse/controller between the two matching symbols.  To do this takes practice, and understanding of the system.  To come out and say it is too hard because I am old, and don't want to WORK some to play the game isn't about crystallized intellignece it is about wanting to be spoonfed a game.  It has very little to do with age, but the OP was using his age as a crutch to not work at something.

All your fancy lingo doesn't change the fact that you can work to accomplish  something or you can curl up in a ball and whine about it.  It also just means it may be harder for him, BUT he should also get greater satisfaction when he can finally work his way through it.  Your ideas of, "It's ok, you don't have to try because __________" just makes excuses for mediocrity and sloth.

This...If the guy is so old...and so inept that he cannot attempt these simple locks (And yes, they ARE simple if you have at least half a brain cell...) then perhaps Barbie's Super Dress Up or a My Little Pony game are more up to his alley.

Try to match the number of lines and the collor of the lines like a quick  scan get the collors and then the number of the lines . then the lines in the right place . ... o and watch out for getting traped  by the red things lol.

Alright, I puchased ME 2 to see what is like, because I am a big fan of DA:O. However, my ME2 game is over now because I simply can't hack any of those cursed locks. For one the the timer is too fast and secondly, I have trouble remembering where  all of the symbols are. I cannot assemble my team unless I can hack those locks. So, for me, the game is over. Sad really. The game cost me $28.95: and I only got to play for ten hours or so. I guess it is back to Dragon Age Origins. Beside, I really puzzles!?!

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but are you SERIOUSLY THAT BAD!? Like whoa man...that is a whole new level of bad ...you might just want to quit video games in general if you can't do it....
