Hi all,

I've posted this already in one of the other threads, but there are an increasing amount of threads being created about this issue.

Yes, it appears that 360s and some Elite owners are having issues where their consoles are freezing while trying to load a DA:O saved game, or trying to start a new game. If you follow the following, this should get you back into the game until Bioware/EA fix the issue from their end.

Temporary Fix:
1. Go to System Settings > Memory > Press Y on your main
storage device > Select Clear Cache

2. Load DA:O, choose
no when prompted to download the update, and you should be fine
to play if you do not have any DLC installed. If you do have
DLC installed, you will most probably receive an error stating your DLC is
corrupt.

3.If that is the case, go back into System Settings
> Memory > Storage Device > Games > Dragon Age Origins > Delete
your DLC
.

4. Load the game again, and let it install the patch.
From the main menu, redownload your DLC, but DO NOT
load a saved game.

5. Go back to the System Settings and
clear the System Cache again. Load up DA:O and don't install the update. You
should be able to load your games offline without any problems.

Post back here and let us know how you go. :wizard:

Is there no way to just load up to patch 1.04 yet and just stay there until they fix the latest patch?

Not really.

Some people have been able to remove the DLC and redownload it, with the update applied, and load saves.

It worked for me the first time, but when I left the game and tried to reload a saved game it re-corrupted my DLC. At present, it seems safer to just remove the update outright, play offline, and wait for an amended patch to be released.

Do the older 360s still work will this patch because I have an Arcade as well as the Gloss...Could I hook up my Arcade for DA:O until they fix this error and will that work fine?

You may be able to, although nothing has been confirmed. The majority of the people affected appear to have Elite or the new 360s consoles.

If you want to give it a go, feel free to test it out and let us know. Either way, you'll still be playing your console offline if you decide not to apply the update, or if it doesn't work and you have to use the above fix.

Thank you very much. For anybody reading this what I did was rented the game because I was not too sure on how much I would like it, I had no dlcs. All I had to do was clear the cache and not download the update, so it does work, you just saved me my rental fee man =D

No worries :)

One thing though- when you clear your cache you do lose your in-game settings, so you'll have to go through and set it up again (subtitles, audio etc).

fyi using this fix if you have gotten the items from the two pre-game addons, the darkspawn chronicles and the song one you will not still have them, the option to have them won't even be on your dlc list, and you will have to play through the games again to get them again. though if playong offline i don't know that you will be able to get them...

Xbox 360 Arcade system has an error as well... Oh well... Time to try the work around...I don't want my Aedan's gear to go away with this fix... Will it? (Starfang, King's Armor, etc)

as long as you clear cache and delete all addons, then download the patch, then re-download the addons, then clear catch and play offline you'll have all items from wardens keep return to ostigar and stone prison that you previously had, if you don't redownload the addons it won't even let you load a save that had them.

So if I delete all my addons, clear the cache, THEN download the patch -- I can re-download all my addons and not worry about mucking up my save?  I'm right at the point where I can either sanctify or taint Andraste's ashes.  Kinda don't want to mess things up now :)

SilverQuill- You wont muck up your save. Just follow the steps above, and you'll be fine.

I followed all of the steps and every time I go to reload my save offline, it tells me it can't open it because of my corrupted DLC files. Ugh! I guess my mage is just going to get a breather before she faces the archdemon. I hope they fix this soon though

Yeah this fix doesn't work... It still says the DLC is corrupt...

If it says your DLC is corrupt, something hasn't been done correctly.

Just to make sure that I've covered all bases:

1. Go to System Settings > Memory > Press Y on your storage devices > Select Clear Cache

Just in case- if you are using a thumb drive or similar, clear the cache on the thumb drive too.

2. Load DA:O, choose no when prompted to download the update, and you should be fine to play if you do not have any DLC installed.

If you do have DLC installed, you will most probably receive an error stating your DLC is corrupt- continue to step 3.

3. Go back into System Settings > Memory > Storage Device > Games > Dragon Age Origins > Delete ALL your DLC. The only files that should remain in this file are your saved games, and perhaps a full install of the game. If you have awakening installed, perform the same process.

4. Load the game again, and let it install the patch. From the main menu select downloadable content. This should list all of your DLC as purchased, and allow you to download it. If you do not have the option to download it (the A button in the lower left of the screen is greyed out), it hasn't been removed.

You have to remove all DLC for this to work. After you have re-downloaded ALL of your DLC again (you will need it all to load a saved game that has previously used the DLC), quit out of DA:O, do not load a saved game or start a new game or you will recorrupt your DLC.

5. Go back to the System Settings > Memory > Press Y on your main storage device > Select Clear Cache .

Load up DA:O and select NO to the update. You should be taken directly to the main menu, but be disconnected from Xbox Live.

I followed this exactly like you said... Still corrupt...

Is there no way to download the patch to a USB and play it from that?

why would you download the patch to a usb? It's the patch thats creating the issues with the DLC.

Try removing all the DLC, removing the update/patch and starting a new game. See if that works for you.

If it still tell you that you have corrupt DLC, then you haven't removed it all.

I've just done some troubleshooting and found the fix isn't working for some people, as the DLC isn't registering.

Xbox 360 DLC can only be played offline on the console you redeemed the code or purchased the DLC on. You can only play it on another console if you are logged onto Xbox Live with the profile you purchased the DLC.

If you have a new Xbox 360, or a different one than you purchased the DLC on- this fix will not work.

You can go to www.xbox.com/drm and perform a license transfer for your content, but you will be unable to use your DLC unless you do.

The only other option you have, is as Sdrol117 said, and remove the DLC, clear the cache and start a new game. Either that, or wait for Bioware to fix the patch their end.

I updated to the 360S after my old one got the RROD, so I wouldn't have to worry about these issues! Microsoft is going to have to really work on their quality control and testing or something, it seems like the xbox is just one big error after another. Plus all of us who paid for the DLC are now losing out on it if we have new a new xbox. I'm going to try to do a license transfer and see what happens.

another issue with this fix, tested and confirmed on 4 different console's, if you have the game installed to your hard drive in order to use this fix you must uninstall the game and run the game from the disc. if you properly trasfered liscense, properly followed the instructions to delete the patch and you dlc, then installed the patch, reinstalled your dlc and then deleted the patch and your game is still not working make sure it is not saved to your HD.
