Why all the ideas and complaining are mostly useless.

I see a lot of nagging and ideas going on here, which I am also guilty of. But seriously, who are we fooling? Ourself. The developers don't give a damn what we think is the best. They only do what they consider to be the best, hoping that it'll go home with us. And since BioWare has been so successful earlier, they will probably play on their previous success and how that success came to be; what they did in earlier games.

My point is, our ideas are basically worthless. No matter how much I want a free roaming game, I'm 90% sure that it won't happen. And why is that? Because their earlier games weren't free roaming, but they were successful. So they will play on their earlier success. Besides, if we got our will, the game would probably end up being very, VERY strange.

Tirannos, you are right. They aren't basing game design decisions from what they see in the forums.

We can all go home now. :(

Aw but i put like 30 points into diplomacy! Can't I try to pointlessly influence anything?

Uh I dunno if you've noticed, but you're on a FORUM. This place is FOR ideas and complaining. If you don't like it, there's always real life to throw yourself into.

Mind you, this doesn't mean you're wrong, just wasting your time.

I don't think anyone imagines they will actually make a difference. Ideas are what active minds create, and as for the complaints, people both say what they think needs to be said, and want to be clear about how they feel about it. There's nothing worse than not saying something when it matters and have someone come back with 'well, everyone seemed fine with it. How were we to know?' Is anyone holding their breath awaiting the knowledge that they've made a difference? I doubt it very much.

Haha, I was just creating a thread explaining why unfounded criticism and demands are unnecessary, but after half an hour I decided that the 2 hour thread explaining every reason demands will not get one anywhere was not going to be read by the hebitudinous individuals foolish enough to criticize without proper evaluation and make personal demands.

I knew a sensible person would type something up much shorter, to combat this onslaught of negative shenanigans.

I almost forgot, Thanks.

I'm sure Bioware has thrown us a bone in the past. Whose to say that DA2 might not fix a complaint you had in DA1.

Your diplomacy is nullified by Bioware's cunning.

I'm just trying to be a little realistic here. After all, it's not our game. Sure, we'll buy it and play it, then we'll nag about this and that, and praise this and that. But in the end, they will do what they think is best, not what we think is best.

I can't think of anyone that seems to think their feelings about these things mean any more than a personal decision to buy or not buy the game. I really don't think there's any lack of realism at play here.

Yes,in the end Bioware has the final say on things. But since these forums are frequented by the DA team, people feel that their voice might inspire the developers to add something. Even if it is as silly as the zombie kitty Easter Egg in Denerim.

Why not be realistic to yourself? You don't have to voice every opinion you have...

Which brings up a good question: why am I responding to this?

BioWare isn't stupid. They don't completely ignore the forums, nor do they accept every idea posted. However, they do examine the forums, seeing trends in the community, and see what they can do to improve in that area, either by seeing a good idea in the thread or developing their own.

They even acknowledge all the misinformation, complaints, etc that are happening right now, or at least they did in that first podcast. It's not useless, I bet they like to know how their market and core fans react to whatever they release.

Also, BioWare has thrown the community bones in the past, the NG+ for ME2 being one that I can remember (for restarting ME2 with an ME2 character instead of only ME1).

Just for the record, I said "MOSTLY USELESS". Not "entirely useless".

What errant_knight said. Not everyone is on here expecting to be heard by Bioware. Some of us (shock horror) actually LIKE finding other people who think the same way we do (and then having a good ol' **** session).

I don't necessarily think what you say is true. I think that DA2 is already on a set path, but I think that Bioware pays attention to what we say and they, at least some of the time and partly, take it into consideration for the future. What they decide, though, is still gonna fly. Which is ok with me, considering they've been making some good games so far.

Why would Bioware ignore the forums? Sure, there is a lot of nonsense, but this is a free source of ideas and some small amount of market research handed to them with no effort other than having to moderate us.

Of course not all of the ideas will be put into effect, but I'm sure super-hot topics on these forums are probably at least discussed and evaluated.

By the sole fact of the sheer number of Developer posts, the forums are obviously not ignored. In any case, there is a great long thread talking about the very same thing
