Well, 1.04 does not seem to be helping me.  I still think my crashes are sound related.  Using 1.04, I started a new female city elf rogue character.  Talking to the first group of drunken elves outside the first house, I hit an audio loop, and the blue screen came up reporting an IRQ issue, and I proceeded to automatically reboot.

I am running an R1 Alienware M17x laptop, with 4GB Ram, Vista 64 Home, 280M cards in SLI running on the latest 258.21 drivers (I think that's the number).  I am using the on-board sound, but I have not been able to find any new drivers out there.  I will try now to do some extensive testing with the sound disabled to see what happens.

Just disabled sound, reloaded the game, and had the old fault in DragonAge.exe error and crashed to desktop as soon as I spoke to the Elf's father in the hut. Here's the info from the event viewer:

Faulting application DAOrigins.exe, version 1.4.12393.0, time stamp 0x4c093389, faulting module DAOrigins.exe, version 1.4.12393.0, time stamp 0x4c093389, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x001be645, process id 0x121c, application start time 0x01cb295593bd0226.

Played a bit more and got another similar fault as the one above and crashed to desktop. As far as I can tell, it's crashing almost the same as before. The patch is not making a difference and the game is still not playable unless you like to constantly reload.

Pretty sure it's the patch -- I just reinstalled DAO and Awakenings, patched it after that, and... well, I keep getting CTD when using spells. I thought it was just the really big AOE spells, but I just got a crash in the Brecilian Ruins by casting Cone of Cold.

My game runs smooth for about 15 ~ 30 min, then tells me that it cannot connect to the servers. Within a min of this message it crashes. I also start getting jumpy frame rates, and weard sound glitches during the time prior to the crash.

Yes this happened prior to 1.04, but les frequently. This is getting old folks, fix it.

Nathan is the single, only., occasionally present Bioware person.  There is no "folks" from BW here, since other than Nathan, we're all just other game players.

Since you are apparently pretending that this is either EA's site itself, or a console forum, you obviously don't want the gamers here to offer any advice, else you would include more than a useless "Me, Too" comment.

I'm not a super nerd. I don't come here just to post ramdom crap. I thought I was in the right place to lodge a complaint about 1.04 breaking my gameplay.

If I'm not. I guess I'll find the right one. But if boiware isn't interested in fixing the problem there is nothing I can do is there? Either fix the problem or don't make any more broken patches.

In my opinion this site is perfectly valid to ask, complain or seek advice for eg. faulty patches.
The community can't fix the programming errors introduced with 1.03 though so atm there is not much point to writing here - that's two very different things, imo. You might as well have found a good customer-made solution here, unfortunately there is none, hence the redirection to EA's customer support.

1.04 definetely seems to be causing some stability issues. With 1.03 I had pretty much no crashing - but with 1.04 the game tends to crash everytime I am playing.

Same thing here. Before I applied any patches, the game runs perfectly fine with 0 crashes. Only I have to save-reload to reduce the loading time every few hours (temporary memory leak fix). But after the patch, not only the game runs worse than before with some lags (small pauses), the game starts to crash as well. Just CTD with the "the game has stopped working" error message. running Windows 7 64bit.

If you go to the "official" technical support site you just get told to come here. Don't have a go at people for trying to get help for their game from the place where they are supposed to go in order to get help for their game. Either help them, or don't.

Bioware washing their hands of their bugs is a disgrace, and this forum is all we're left with. It's hardly people's fault if they get frustrated with that, but how do we complain to Bioware? To all intents and purposes, we can't - we just get redirected here.

I'm having the same problem. I had no crashes before 1.04 patch and now the game crashes constantly. This is very frustrating especially during battle when I'm on the verge of winning.

I have the same problem, keeps crashing under 1.04. Woese thing is I'm at the end of the fight sequence in Amgarrak (DLC) and it takes ages to kill the end monster, and it keeps crashing before I can kill it.

Grrr...played DA:O for over 70 hours without so much as a hiccup... installed 1.04 for Witch Hunt and now I've had 5 crashes in one hour...Guess I'm off to Lair of the Shadow Broker until they get this repaired *sighs*

This SEEMS to've worked...

I'm on Windows 7 x64 with an X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion series

- Updated to latest Creative Labs Drivers (6/10)

- Created a Creative Alchemy profile for Dragon Age with 4 buffers, 25 duration, 128 max voice count...

Played for about an hour without a crash...so I'm hopeful...I'll post later if anything goes awry...

Be aware that the HD 5850, 5870, and 5970 cards have had more trouble with driver conflicts in Dragon Age than the older HD 4850 / 4870 have had. There has been a recent Catalyst Driver set that didn't work properly in this game for any AMD video card. What this means is that you need to pick and choose among drivers for the best compromise, which won't necessarily mean the newest of them.

Yea, I had crashes when DAO first came out, but not sense then, cant even play witch hunt... which is the only reason I care about 1.04

And this is the usual EA bull, anybody else notice bioware going downhill since they were bought out by EA?

I am now getting crashes in dragon age: origins since updating to the new 160.99 nvidia driver for windows 7. I never had any problems before but today it crashed twice for no reason. One in the magi circle and the other in Jarvia's hideout. I was using a mage.

I am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
e8500 core2duo
gigabyte gtx470

Edit:

I seemed to have sorted it out and make the game play much better. I set my graphic card 3d settings back to default and set the phsx to be on gpu instead of auto. No more problem.

My game crashes and exits after about 1 hr of game play. Seems to occur more often in battles. I've installed Dragon Age: Origins 1.04 on a 2.4 GHz dual core i5 with 4 Gb RAM running Win 7 (32 bit). No mods, no DLC. I've found running in windowed mode more stable than full screen mode but I still get crashes every hour or so. Given the number of complaints about stability, this is pretty sh_tty quality assurance from EA. I love DA:O but I'm not buying any DLC or DA2 from EA until I hear they are working on these problems and there is hope for a fix.

Worked absolutly fine, no crashes, no bugs, no lag, no glitches nothing. I install 1.04 and i crash every hour. Highly annoying!
