So,  there are group of people saying they should destroy the chanttry for  the mages being free, now the question it's : you would live under The Qun doctrine or will behis most dangerous enemy?

Pros:
- Resistance is futile
- They don't care which race are you but instead on what are you good
- They  are very well protect against abominations (even more of the Chantry)
- Their children learn to know his people and... have discipline...
- They love the war and the "science" (or at least anything which help to do bigger KAA-BOM's) of course this can be because they don't relay on magic at all
- They can have bigger partys each certain time!
- They almost had Theadas as their backyard
- You follow the way of knowledge
- you can be a softie at sane time  having a "Angry-face"

Minus:
- They care which gender are you (thouhg something tell me , they will not avoid a woman become warrior at the end)
- Resistance is futile!

Take note : Militant islamic borg are the words of David Gaider.
And of course are free of specific religious beliefs, still describe very well the Qun

Sorry. Freedom may be chaotic, but I'd rather make my own choices and end up dead, face down in a gutter rather than have any one entity decide what's best for me. I'm just independent that way.

Can't remember where I read it - perhaps the Dragon Age wiki - but the Qunari religion is loosely based on Islam. Qun...Quran.

The Qunari do seem to improve the lot of many of the peoples they've conquered, but being told, as a woman, that you can't do this or that, is a bitter pill to swallow. So freedom all the way.

Maybe i should told this on the first post but The Qun seem a little "Islamic" because the Islam's people were a powerful (belic) and very advance culture on the Post - Middle Age (well, 1200+ A.C.) the borg part it's obvious:they come, they conquer you. They fail the first time... the second time isn't good (even having the Cid can't help)

Still , they bring all their knowledge, don't take you a slave and even can work as equals, the children are taken by other, so the concept "parents" don't exist yet they focus on the community and help to make even better the community. On certain way, they live to get perfection on their works... letting living almost on harmony (well, if you don't care women aren't men and viceversa then it' s a perfect harmony)

P.d. and about all.. they are the best one with the mages: no tounges !

I like trying to think of them as colonial, perhaps Victorian era, British. Stiff upper lips, the imperialism and "bronze man's burden" of enlightening the savages.

Mostly because they are the psuedo-medieval version of the Ottomans for the psuedo-Europe.

Being forced to do one thing and one ting only for the rest of your life can be seen as slavery. They are a communist/fascist kind of regime, where everyone is considered equal but has to live within very strict guidelines. You aren't seen as an individual as much as a part in the whole.

But they do have legitimate slaves too, the ones who don't want to convert are sent to work camps.

I didn't realize that.  Interesting.  Which indicates that we might see them crumble from within, but not before some fearsome battles.

To the OP's question, hell no.  I'm with Wiiliam Wallace and the Dalish on this one:  Never submit.  I love the Fereldan outlook that says we might be barbarians, but we're our own men (and women).  The Orlesians found that out, I am sure the Qunari will if there's a follow-through on Sten's glimpse of the future.

The Qun is taken out right from Plato's republic it has nothing to do with Islam in anyways. The thought of ruling the world is shared by all religions and cultures that ever appertained enough influence to make worldly decisions.

As for women being warriors parshara if you knew anything of the Qun you would't have even said that. As for my role i would be happy with whatever role the Tamassrans gave me. You can be just as free in the Qun as you are now free to choice to embrace the role of assigned and do well, or fight it and fail at your chosen duty.

Ataash Qunari!!!

                                                                        The is only the Qun.

My sentiments, very similar. I am too much an advocate of individual choice and personal freedom to choose, to ever think the Qun would be a better option than anarchy or chaos. The Qun certainly sounds nice on paper and in theory. But I personally find such a system in contradition to my own personal views and opinions.

I find it very odd that the Qunari put everyone in assigned roles and yet have invented gunpowder. Scientific advances generally require freedom to try new things.

The Qunari's outlook seems great in theory, especially short term, but there is something about chaos that just makes life thrive and advance, especially in pre-modern societies. The Qun just seems to lead to stagnation.

They may have developed gunpowder before they became Qunari.  They had it when they arrived in Thedas, and I'm not aware of any mention of technological advances since then.

Totalitarian regimes usually value military technology, for example Third Reich had a tremendous arsenal.

The Qunari are by far the most advanced race in Thedas, not just by having gunpowder, but also I imagine they are EXTREMLY productive in all their industries.

Mary Kirby mentioned the Qunari don't have cookies because they are TOO effective at how they work.
