Do you have any Origins superstitions?  I do.

When I'm in the Korcari wilds, I only take Hurlock warrior blood for the first two joining samples and always make sure the Hurlock Alpha's blood at the end of the quest is the final sample in my inventory before going back to Ostagar.

Of course, I can't prove that it makes a difference, but my early games always seemed to be more successful when I did that rather than taking samples at random.

I know it's silly, and I'm sure I could check out the code with the toolset to prove/disprove the idea, but I've always thought that if I were going to be doing something like the joining I'd want the best darkspawn blood available, and I wasn't certain that the devs didn't code choices/repercussions like that into the game.

LOL it's my experience on these forums that no matter how weird the post, people will still reply [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]

But yes, that is pretty weird. Any other superstitions you got?

It's not really a superstition, but when I level up my char and want to increase atk or def I always make sure I do a full point, adding to STR or DEX only as necessary to get a full point increase, and then checking to make sure there's not an extra half point hidden in the stats somewhere.  That usually leaves a spare point to add to WIL or some other attribute.

The Hurlock blood thing is pretty much the only superstition that seems to make any difference to me. I still won't take blood from Genlocks or the Emissary by the bridge, or even Hurlock archers for that matter.  Some games I won't take poison from the darkspawn, some games I won't take health poultices from them etc.

I play close to real time combat as much as possible during the game and fights just seem to be more successful more often by following my own inclinations, especially if I'm tired or not at 100% concentration, something about me being less prone to being distracted.

There's always a lot happening onscreen during a battle, and it's easy enough to let health get too low if avoiding the use of the pause button.  Because I play DiD games I hate to see my guy die because it means a full restart from the beginning, and as much as I enjoy the origin stories, I would still rather see my warden make it through the game without a single fall.  I've done it a few times on hard level, but I've always had to be careful and avoid getting distracted at a critical moment.

I'm 55 years old these days and my twitch skills were never much more than average to begin with, so my reflexes and concentration will use all the help they can get from whatever source, superstition or not.

When the warden has the conversation option: "There are many mysteries in the world" at Soldier's Peak, I thought it was the dev's sneaky way of informing us that there were undocumented choices in the game that could affect gameplay, so in the beginning I checked out everything I could.

I didn't have the toolset then, but now that I do I still prefer not to check the code except as necessary for my mod, just to keep a sense of mystery to the game.  I'm still surprised occasionally by things that happen, even after months of playing.

Well, I don't really have any superstitions, but a lot of what I would call routines. For instance I always assign the same talents/skill to the same positions on the quick bar (I'm on Xbox).

Yeah, I do the same with the quickbar, it's just another thing not to have to worry about when things get hectic during battles.  I always place swift salve in the furthest right slot of the quickbar just so I won't have to spend time hunting for it.

I'm the same with the quickbar, but I always have my health poltuces on the farthest right hand side and then the injury kits, except for Wynne and Morragan who have lyrium potions

The one I'm romancing always gets the Lifegiver ring. Does that count? :P

Oh, and edit: I always keep the Family Sword in my inventory if I'm playing a Human Noble.

I always have something from my origin with me when I fight Archie. I have a truly awesome screenshot of my city elf in her wedding dress riding the dragon.

Superstitions? No. Except for belief in the Maker in the one time I Roleplayed a devout character.

Well that´s not a superstition....

However, I sometimes have the same.

My noble always wore her mother´s keepsake, and my City elf never got rid of Nevaros´wedding ring.

Maybe the thread's title should be "Superstitions and Good Luck Charms" to make it more general?

Only real thing I have is that I hate fighting in corners, or against walls. I hate having my vision restricted, as I will often rotate the camera in the middle of combat just to check the position of my enemies. For that reason, I'll head to the center of an open area and fight there, even though it's tactically sound to put your back against something (so enemies don't get a Flanking bonus).

Apparently, there's no way around that.  But nothing lasts forever, not even mini black holes.  Not in this universe anyway.

I attempt to gain nearly all boss kills for the Warden. Hate to have the bards sing of how I simply rode the talents of my party to glory. There are some exceptions, if the kills humored me at the time, like when Dog killed the High Dragon, or Lil actually slays her ex-mentor.

I am like many of the others. I am a fan of keeping something from my origins storyline.

Well, despite the fact that there are better weapons and shields by the end of the game, I use a modded family sword and Shield of Highever during the entire game. The mod I have also adds a locket of your mother's, so I keep that on my character too.

In my first playthrough (City Elf) I used Fang constantly from the moment I got it, including through Awakening. Too stubborn to care that there are better weapons. Still use my Mum's. Enchanted the crap out of it anyway so I can sort of justify it.

I'm in love with Alistair (I freely admit it and my husband doesn't seem to mind as long as dinner is ready on time) and I almost always romance him in my playthroughs. When it comes time for the conversation where he tells me he's really come to care for me, I make sure it happens on a hilltop in the Bforest. It's the prettiest setting. lol

I never get rid off the Warden's Oath. It carries this special meaning to me. Until I get an UBER amulet that trumps everything, I NEVER take it off for anything else.

I keep sentimental items when they're obsolete. My female city elf kept Adaia's boots and her wedding ring for the whole game even though she barely used them. My human noble also kept his family longsword to remind him of his parents even when he was using better gear. I also switched to the family longsword when I fought Howe, just for extra catharsis.

I often keep rare items even when I won't actually use them because they're unique and I don't feel comfortable just selling it off. I always imagine that if I survive the Blight and become teyrn of Gwaren or chancellor, I'll keep those rare artifacts in a museum.

whenever I get into battle, I feel like I have to cast Cone of Cold at least 20 times or I'll lose...

OHLOLZIMSOFUNNY.

for some reason, (as just stated above) I HAVE to keep named items, I have like 6 good longbows in my invent at the moment that will never ever EVER get used but I dont want to sell them

I also ALWAYS have to put my party in MC, tank, rogue. healer when leaving the party camp, so that way I can activate the talents I want, go to tank, then to my rogue to select vulnerable targets, and generally not to my healer because I dont actually need to control her. >_>

Like many others, I usually keep something from my origin, be it the family sword, wedding ring, Aeducan family shield, whatever. I think I even kept the wedding ring through to the end of Awakening.
