Didn't know there are so many ppl which consider some of characters as their friends. But there are also many -mancers, and that makes me sad...
This art with bro hug... Amazing *_* Garrus/MaleShep friendship is one of my favs, coz, well.. Garrus is simply a bro. Also, bro with sniper. Deadly bro with sniper :3
I liek Jack/FemShep too - everytime I look at her... She just looks like she needs a hug
Wait, this is looong. I'll stop here

Also, as an alternative, repeatedly insulting/being rude to a squadmate could estrange them from you and have some sort of effect on mechanics. I like almost every character, as it is with most people I see, but y'know...there's always that one character who just rubs you the wrong way, and sometimes you just want them to shut up.

As for Zaeed they have to get his love interest active in a new quest for him. (Jesse)
Hehehe, can you imagine that? Instead of them falling for you, you have to help them get tail from someone else?
(Jesse is totally hawt though:P)

I didn't romance Liara because I liked her too much to hurt her.
A romance with Liara just seems wrong to me, still does. Same goes for Tali. Platonic ice cream love for 'em both!

Samara is a little bit strange to me. Following the rigid Code/Oaths but helping Shepard without question. Despite my initial worries she turned out to be very loyal friend. I chose her for shielding from seeker swarm at SM and seeing her strugling to help the squad, combined with this beautiful music track was... touching, to say the least. I think it is "my" most unique moment from ME2. I actually value her friendship as it is possible for computer game character. When I was wandering aboard SR-2, just after stopping the Collectors, conflicted about final choice, she really helped by supporting my destruction of the base. Wow, there can be friendship between hetero- man and women - in games, but it's better than nothing.
Another character I consider my friend is Thane. I felt much better having him around during suicide mission and final battle. His calm presence and aura of serenity are helpful. His illness also made me sad that I propably won't have too much time to know him better and he won't be around when Reapers return. I would gladly give each human colony for the Collectors for a cure for him. If I only knew Thane earlier I would try to make this exchange first, and destroy them later.
As for friendship and feelings in general - I'm not a fan of Ashley, she wasn't too likeable for me. But suprisingly, sacrificing her on Virmire didn't come easily and was really a hard decision. After all, she was part of my squad and loyal friend. I also liked to help any of my squadmates. Loyalty missions weren't forced but all felt natural to me. Yeah, Mass Effect has some believable characters who player can connect on quite a few different levels.

Sort of like Mordin, who at some point in the game mentions spending his "final decade" doing something important. I can't remember the exact conversation.
There's wiggle-room if BW wants to bring Thane back for one more round.

I... I just don't understand this thread... How can I have platonic sexual fantasies about characters... I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE!
Yeah, it makes no sense, this topic isn't quite working. That Garrus hug picture really crosses the line into awkward for example.

So.. it's probably a bad thing if that image totally made me go "Awww.. that looks adorably awesome"?ReconTeam wrote...

As dead as this thread is.. I'll thumbs up for it. I really liked some of the platonic, non-romance dialogue you get when befriending characters who are love interests for the gender you aren't playing (I could totally picture my Shepard call Tali "little sister Tali" after the suitlinking dialogue, for example) and I do wish there was a platonic, non-romance path to take with Garrus post his loyalty mission without first giving my Shepard a gender swap.
So, I approve of this thread and hope to see Mass Effect 3 introduce more platonic path options - especially with designated love interests in the case you're really only interested in some (or none) of them!

Jacob is pretty cool too. Since he's a relaxed laid back guy who can keep a cool head in combat scenarios and not let anything bother him, I can always count on him in a fight.
Garrus and Jacob were there with me when we fought against the evil terminator reaper. You can't get male bonding anywhere like that lol.

On board the SR2, Kasumi was my Shepard's best friend, but she was also pretty close to both Miranda and Thane too.

ZAEED and GARRUS.
Come on especially Garrus with the male shep he has barely any friendship dialogue (or any dialogue at all really) besides his loyalty mission.
As for Zaeed they have to get his love interest active in a new quest for him. (Jesse)
YES,
i approve of this bromance trio with my maleshep. more dialogue please.
kasumi can be invited too though, because she's cool.
