Hmm Platonic, Samara and thane, they are both great characters and I like the way the relationship develops it doesnt feel quite so cut off as the others.

I liked all my crew members with the exception of Miranda. when the galaxy is at steak, there are better things to do than attempt to get it on with the crew. :X

Ergo, celibacy for me. :V

I wouldn't mind friendships OR love-hate relationships, like Spock had with Dr. McCoy.

I hope there's more platonic-esque conversations in ME3, since after a certain point in ME2 the only people you could keep talking to were those you couldn't romance or the one you were romancing. It'd be nice to have some dialogue between Sheploo and Garrus about the "good old days" or Femshep and Ashley going to Flux on that girls' night out Ash mentioned in ME1.

And if it were me in Shepard's boots, I'd not be looking for romance while the galaxy's at stake, too much risk/heartbreak/potential for manipulation (I'm looking at YOU T.I.M.)

Garrus is probably my favorite squadmate in the game, but I never visit his thread because it is filled with people who romanced him with their Shep. Besides the fact that my Shep is a heterosexual male, I find the whole Garrus romance a little disgusting. You might as well be romancing a Krogan or an Elcor. The Turians are so alien in appearance that they should not be physically appealing to humans, and vice versa.

Although I do give Bioware credit for sort of writing that in to Garrus' romance dialogue. He more or less tells Fem Shep, if unintentionally, that he doesn't find her physically attractive. lol

Garrus is my Bro man, he's been with me through thick and thin.

And although the OP probably hasn't been seen for months I still felt like posting that in this necrotic, rotting, decrepit thread.

Miranda fans keep taking this the wrong way, but I keep hoping that TIM is going to activate the control chip he's installed in her brain.

I fully support this thread! I love all the squadmates, Joker and Kelly as pals. Except Kaidan, who is my OTL...

I'd like to see some odd couples or small cliques in your group. That could included friendships and/or romances. Have Grunt and Jack hang out and banter like the two heavy gun marines in Aliens. Maybe have Liara, Tali, and Kasumi having lunch in the rec room and Kasumi is getting razzed over her obsession with Jacob. Joker forms a special task force to save Shepard, made up of him, Biotic God, Conrad Vernor and EDI's intelligence transferred to a high end toaster.

My squaddies are my friends, regardless of romance.
Heck, for some of my Sheps they're like family.

I have multiple Sheps who each have BFFs but in general my besties are:
Garrus, my wing man.
Kasumi, who lightens the mood.

Specific Sheps have bonded with say Zaeed, Legion, Jack, or Samara.

Jack and Garrus were the characters that I was disappointed that I wasn't able to be that close friends with if I didn't romance them in ME 2. I really didn't like that many characters just closed their dialogue progressions off if you were interested in sex with them.

I consider my renegade Shep and Jack to be kindred spirits in a way. Shepard was Earth born, so she's had a tough life too, and is quite ruthless. She, Wrex and Zaeed seem like they have a lot to bond over too. I like to think of them all sharing a drink together.

I really love Samara, partially in a platonic way. I'd love to have a path with her that is purely platonic in ME3. It would stay true to her dedication to the Code, but she and paragon Shep would still have that bond.

Regardless of paragon/renegade I see Shep being close friends with Joker. Despite giving him a hard time sometimes, renegade Shep is still really fond of Joker, and I think his humour counteracts her grumpiness quite nicely! Especially seeing as he brushes off most of the renegade dialogue with a joke.

Oddly enough, I really like Legion as a friend for Shep. I can't imagine it bonds with anyone else on the ship (except EDI, a fellow synthetic), whereas I can imagine other characters going and having a chat with each other off-screen. So Shepard is the only one who comes and asks it about itself and its people, and Legion obviously has a lot of respect and admiration for Shepard. It's an odd and endearing little friendship.

The only characters that really feel like friends are Wrex, Ashley, and Kasumi. Wrex was awesome to see again in ME2, and I took him just about everywhere in 1 so it's like we did everything together. Kasumi is nice, friendly, even if I can't talk to her I like that she is able to talk to me about everything on the mission.

I see Garrus more as a subordinate, personally. Jacob I had 0 connection with, I have no clue what the bro-hug was all about. Kaidan, like a younger brother (even if he's chronologically older) I guess.

Just wanna know, does Jacob actually talk about his father to Shep? I'm trying to see if he would talk about it to femShep as a friend. If he does, then I have missed out something.

Agree on the lack of in depth friendship dialogues in ME games, btw. Most of the time I just wanna find what make the chars tick but romance always get dragged into it. Image IPB

Hell yes the game needs more conversation, tons more, as it stands atm it's a joke, and tbh it simply reveals the hook Bioware are using to sell/promote/hype the game, the Li sex angle.

Shows a complete lack of depth on Bioware's part, it's simplistic and a facade, a very basic cover to hide the fact that there is in reality no conversation between shepard and his crew.

we get -

Intro Conversation
No Conversation
No Conversation
No Conversation
Loyalty Mission Conversation
Do you want a Shag ?, Yes or No
Yes - Conversation/flirting - Shag
No - No Conversation, Go Away
Go Away
Go Away
Go Away

Is this really the best they can do ?

Of course they can do better, if they wanted to, but they dont want to, because the Li/shag angle is the easy angle, with the least amount of work, the bare min amount of convo req, and gives them an easy sell angle, cheap, childish and simplistic.

It's like the Paragon/Renegade thing, one way is hard the other way is easy.

Bioware/EA went Renegade, and now everyone wants a chunk of that big money pie :)

Too bad though as i am sure that they could make a lot of money from those other relations as well, if they where willing to see the light.

let us dig up this thread :

what i didnt like about the relationships in mass effect 1 and 2 ( didnt play 3 yet , dont know if i should ruin my mass effect universe , regarding the things i heard about the game ) was that there was only the possibility to get more dialogue with ppl if you romance them.

i romanced liara in me1 and did get close with tali in me2. But she was more like a very good friend or a sister to my shepard. The problem i had was, that after the loyalty mission you only have 2 possiblities.

1. Romance
2. "ill stay here for the rest of the game and keep saying the same sentences over and over again"

That sucked.

I loved the drinking with dr chakwas. Y cant we get more of those scenes. I did the loyalty missions fairly early and although i took tali with me most of the time, i somhow missed her.
