I've been hearing a lot of people saying that it could be used to take out the Reapers. I don't think so. Spoiler Alert. In the Codex it says that the Thanix Cannon can rival a Cruisers' firepower. But on the Derelect Reaper EDI will tell you that Reapers are impervious to Dreadnaught fire. Cruisers are smaller than Dreadnaughts. Reapers are Impervious to the Thanix Canon.

Enough ships can take down a Reaper, we saw that from the battle for the Citadel, and they didn't even have thanix cannons. Now imagine a galactic fleet of all the races equipped with thanix cannons. That's probably what people are thinking about.

Well, it's based on Reaper technology (something like reverse-engineering Sovereign's main gun or something, can't remember the details). It can probably do something against a Reaper.

Its a big gun, what else do you need? Though I can't really imagine the reapers being destroyed by brute force anyway.

True, but thats a Thannix Cannon on a Cruiser, compared to the main gun of a Dreadnought. Imagine how much more powerful it would be if you attach it to a Dreadnoughts Mass Effect Accelerator

More importantly, it gives a Frigate or Fighter the firepower of a cruiser. This essentially means you get more bang for your buck when producing star ships. Wars, believe it or not, are essentially economic affairs where whomever controls the resources, weather they are human, production capacity, or mineral, wins in the end.

The Thanix can let us swarm Reapers with numerous smaller craft that are much easier to produce and crew than a Dreadnought while providing a superior resource-firepower ratio. We will win by attrition of Reaper forces, if nothing else.

Personally, I think either you dupe them to FTL into a black hole, actually infiltrate them and destroy them from the inside, or upload some kind of virus that destroys them.

Well the normandy is a frigate class ship and the thanix is so good is because its a mini version of sovreigns gun, developed by the turians. Because its a mini version, it can be mounted on small ships, all of you who saw sovreigns gun saw that it blew a dreadnaught to pieces with a single shot, a mini version is pretty cool

It's reaper tech, taken from the Sovereign wreckage, and it did quite a number on the collector cruiser. Plus, if you've ever seen The Incredibles, you know that sometimes, the only thing that can destroy something is itself. Reaper tech being used against the Reapers.

I think that's only because his shields dropped when we took out the final boss. Good point with the Cruiser and Dreadnaught thing. I'm mostly hoping for something to put on the Normandy with Antimatter rounds; anitmatter warheads were mentioned on Novaria.

That's brilliant logic if I ever heard it. Clearly the size of the ship is what important, not the nature of the firepower on said ship. If the cruiser had 100 ship to ship Cain projectile type launchers, the Reapers would still be immune, right?

Unless they figure out how to mass-produce the keepers, I doubt they'd be able to build enough ships with appropriate fire power in time for the invasion. We're talking at least 5,000 cruisers with thanix cannons.

It can destroy Derelict Reaper but not it's shields.

The rachni repaired a totaled starship in a matter of days making it better then it was before. You get a colony of those suckers building ships we could have an armada in a matter of weeks.

EDIT; for those who killed the queen you have the Quarians or the Geth but i think the rachni could build and reproduce faster then either of them

Interesting point. One problem bout the rachni though. Where are they? And would they be willing to work with the council races (and krogan shock troopers)?

I think Reaper's are smart enough to know how to counter the Thanix Cannon. After all, they've been doing this for millions of years. I'm sure at least one other civilization thought they had a leg up on the Reapers.

Agreed this might pose a problem but Shepard can sway anyone and with Wrex as there leader we don't have to worry bout the Krogan we just have to convince the council which could be easy depending on your past coices

even though I don't agree with the collectors attacking the SR1, but their high energy weaponry could be quite effective against the reapers... combined with the thanix cannon... why not make photon torpedoes and quantum laser cannons?

*keeps the collector's base, and capture a borg cube as a research facility to use against them*

wonder what type of weaponry the romulans have?... or the dominions in star trek?...  could make nova bombs as andromeda eps1 would put it, or dilithium based weaponry (as star trek depicted at the end of star trek 2009)...  we should "borrow" the borg's warp technology if we ever neutralize them... and research it...

How about a gun that shoots black holes? Oh wait...
