I suppose they could if you paused them for no reason, but I'm asking for them so they can used in situations where your immersion has already been ruined by a ringing phone of crying child.Jorina Leto wrote...
pausable cutscenes wouldn't ruin immersion.
This.
This is a good request, if possible please make it happen Bioware.

Just press the middle button on your PS3/Xbox to pull out the home screen over your game, thus pausing it.
I think this may be the only place where consoles take the benefit over PC, other than random game crashes.

I would have thought so, but they've steadfastly avoided telling us whether we can pause cutscenes in DA2._Loc_N_lol_ wrote...
It's probably too late to swing it one way or the other
This suggests they don't actually know yet.

BioWare's cutscenes are getting longer. This isn't a surprise, and it's not necessarily a bad thing.
However, there is often important information imparted during a cutscene (particularly from a roleplaying perspective - any little thing an NPC does might colour the PC's impression of him), so it's not really something we can afford to miss.
But life happens. I can't wait until the end of a 90 second cutscene ti find out what that noise was my 2-year-old just made in the living room. I can't wait until the end of a 90 second cutscene to answer the phone. Or the door. Or respond to a question from someone who just popped into the room to ask it because she needs the answer right now.
My point is, cutscenes can occur at inopportune times, and I might not even know it's an inopportune time until after the cutscene starts (and that assumes I can always tell when one is going to begin, which I can't).
So, I'd like the ability to pause them. Just like every other pause in BioWare's non-ME titles, a simple pause toggle triggered by the spacebar would be brilliant.
If I could pause dialogue as well that would also be helpful.
Thanks for listening.
Good one !
never thought of that ... but yes !
Will love to see a pause button in there indeed

Eh, they steadfastly avoid telling us a lot of stuff.

I can dig this.
Of course I'd try to pause while particular characters have goofy looking faces, but that's beside the point.

Doesn't Alt-Tab pause cutscenes?

Though I would have to speculate that if they don't tell us anything about it in the next week or so it is unlikely to make it into the game. It is a bit too late to add much to the final game, even something as simple as pausing cut scenes.
