its actually pretty simple. just make sure ur nice to her and talk to her every once in a while. then after the SM sooner or later you have the option to invite her for the chow. just follow what IoCaster said IDK WTF im xplainin for. what he said.

It's possible to kill off her romance thread very early on if you select conversation options that suggest you want to keep things professional. I noticed she offers fewer comments in general if you do this, possibly stopping you from inviting her to dinner later.

That's not necessary. She'll offer to feed the fish whether or not they exist. *shrug*

I always get it after Thane recruitment.

You don't have to flirt with Kelly to get her to feed the fish. My MainShep only went through the standard dialog (opinions on Cerberus, etc) and chose the neutral option when she talked about falling.

Then I just talked with her and Joker after every recruitment, and after recruiting one of the alien characters (Thane, usually), you get to point out that she's very loving, and she'll talk about her work with aliens.

Next conversation I had with her Shep got to ask her to a friendly dinner and she offered to feed the fish.

You don't have to romance her.
