I think it easily get 3 million sales in a single 24 hours.  Game predicted to sell total of 11 million within months.
Could be fastest selling game ever I think.

Discuss.

I'd be surprised if it didn't beat WoW: TBC at the very least in terms of how quickly it sells. Even amongst a lot of console games, Starcraft 2 has been one of the top pre-ordered games recently. It's been in the top 100 games on Amazon UK for 121 days (so ~4 months), so yeah.

Doubt it'll sell as well as Modern Arsefare 2 did, or as fast, but it'll likely do very well.

How many copies has Modern Warfare 2 sold over-all at this time?

Too many. I don't have a figure, though, but I suspect it's got to be 10m at least.

Cinematics don't count. And yes, It looked like those gameplay shots. Have you seen SC2 split screen with SC1? They are the same.

SC2 is SC1 at a higher resolution, 3D models (instead of 2D Isometric) with better quality. The visual style has remained the same, and that's good.

Those screenshots (all of them) are in-engine and part of the gameplay.
It is not a simple RTS, it also plays like an Adventure/RPG in single player.

Hell the game will probably make sales records just from Korea alone, I hear it's almost a religion there.

I'll see what the single player demo is like, before I go rushing out to buy it, just because of the name and slightly flashier graphics, I wasn't too struck on the prequels demo.

Looks a heck of a lot like a Space Marine v Tyranid game.

Ok Blizzard has really outdone themselves this time.

I've never heard a game company landing a contract like that before.

Bioware should do that with Mass Effect 3.  Or maybe one up them and get a space shuttle.

It was pretty stupid to release Mafia 2 on the same day (or close depending on your area) as Starcraft II.

Modern Arsefare lololololol, only a man of great wit and humour could have come up with that you must be a very clever person to think of it. Ok ok let me try, ARSEShallow89 lolololololololololol.

Modern Warfare 2 has an advantage of released across multiple platforms,
Alot of Starcraft (the first ones) sales were over a long period of time than immediate.

Modern Borefare 2 also benefited from being part of an established franchise (Call of Duty) and the sequel to a successful game (MW1), not to mention that gaming has seen an increase in size (i.e. more people are gaming now than they were 10-11 years ago when SC was released).

If Wiki is right, SC1 has sold 11 million copies at least. Wow. That's a huge number for a PC game!

Same goes for  BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.  I'm a huge 2d fighting fan. so this is a big release for me....and now I have to deal with all the SC2 people at Gamestop when I pick up my pre-order.  Ugh.  Nothing against Starcraft itself (well, maybe against Actiovision Blizzard, but that's different), but I prefer turn-based to real time strategy and it's never been my thing.

You mean you kept losing at it the same

SC2 is the work of God. SC2 is the reason we were put on this Earth. Kindly curtail your blasphemies or be sent to the frontlines against the Swarm.

I would say about 4-6 million in 24 hours and 2 million in the first three or four hours.

Well... I would say enough to cause the internet to go super critical and vaporize the planet between Credit Card transactions and Battle.net usage.
