Graphics is as awesome as everyone told, story is interesting, the races are interesting and play all differently, and there are ALREADY DotA maps!!!
In short, I wasn´t particularly interested in the game as I never played StarCraft 1, but after playing a few hours I decided not only to get it but also want to play the first now ;-)
Good Job, Blizzard!

Everyone who hates Starcraft wouldn't be able to survive the extreme firepower of the Terran dominoin.
Doesn´t matter, cos you can´t survive the Zerg Swarm anyways.

Tell me about it..
Dominion General: Don't worry...we got it all planned out.
Raynor: Your plan is useless! The Zerg will tear you appart!
Dominion General: Don't tell me what to do, pirate!
"Minutes later and barely surviving a massive Zerg preemptive attack"
Raynor: You were saying?

That being said, I have seen gameplay from Starcraft 2, I can vouch for its quality. Now I hope it sells many copies as Blizzard deserves a pat on the back for a job well-done.

-Game positively reeks of quality. Blizzard isn't hurting for talent or production values.
-I've only played a couple turn-based strategy games before, so this one's throwing me for a loop. Strategy seems so wide open. Still looking for good tutorials online.
-Superb animations and graphics. Gives my video card a workout, though.
-Not happy about monthly drm. It's fairer than what Ubisoft does, but I still don't like it. If have to move and can't get access to an internet connection, game is useless.
-Required internet connection for achievements...really Blizzard?
All in all an excellent game so far, and aside from monthly DRM I can recommend it to anyone who likes strategy.
* Now hurry up with Diablo 3, Blizzard!

Then again, SC2 is more about online play and the battle net revamp is a big improvement. I bought it mostly to play custom maps and good ones should start showing up in a few months.

I played through the campaign and liked it. I do have to say that the story is borderline nonsensical and really doesn't hold a candle to the single player experience in Bioware games. I won't go into details about it because it would contain massive spoilers, but suffice it to say the characters' choices make absolutely no sense to me. I am also annoyed that the story is so incomplete; to get anything close to the full story we apparently have to buy two additional expansions.

Yeah, voice acting and character types are pretty cheesy, certainly not up to Bioware standards. I'm not too concerned with story for a game like this.
As long as there is sufficient single player content, which seems to be the case, I'll be happy. There are lots of custom maps and challenges as well. Some seem to think otherwise, but then, I haven't played the first StarCraft so I can't compare. All I know is I won't be getting online anytime soon, heheh.

Pitty we can't play the rest of the world like we did on SC1 but playing on S. America server is no fun. Not many good players here, I guess. Wish we could still beat those Koreans but N.Americans will have to do it!
If/when you're online with SC2, look for:
BomberMaxGT (The Engineer, IT & CS Master, Lawyer and RTS Geek)
TartarugaGT (The Doctor... aka as House MD in his Hospital)
HellRaiserGT (The Software Developer Expert and bon vivant like most "Cariocas" - Those from Rio de Janeiro)
MujoGT (The Multi-talented Computer Geek)
RageGT (The RPG addicted Musician and Int'l Trade expert)
Not bad players for a bunch of old guys. GT (Galera da Toca) was created in 1998 to let us play SC together without much complaints from those poor
Come beat us up anytime on Battle.Net!
