BAB stands for Base Attack Bonus and depends on your class(es). There's 3 levels of BAB progression, 1/1, 3/4, and 1/2.
Fighter-type classes (Fighter, Ranger, Paladin, Barbarian) have 1/1 BAB progression, which means every time they gain a level, their BAB goes up by 1. In order to get BAB +7 in one of those classes, you need to have 7 levels.
Rogues, Bards, Clerics, Monks, and Druids have 3/4 BAB progression, which means at level 1, they have a BAB of 0, then their BAB increases by 1 for the next three levels, then at level 5, they do not get an increase. (It looks like 0, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 9, 9 and so on...) In order to get a BAB of +7 in one of those classes, you need 10 levels.
Wizards and SORC have 1/2 BAB progression, which means their BAB goes up by 1 on every even level. In order to get BAB +7 in them, you need 14 levels.
If you multi-class, you add the BAB from each of your classes to determine your overall BAB. For example, if you are a Fighter 4 / Rogue 3, you would have a BAB of 6, 4 from Fighter and 2 from Rogue.
