Appears the long-rumored Liara DLC has finally been announced. I've been reticent to see what the developers have planned for the Shadow Broker, as I think they won't make the reveal anything near as complicated as they've done with the Illusive Man. Also appears that Liara stands with you as a fourth squadmate in the screenshots.

Check out the Mass Effect 2 website for the announcement. Comic-Con is in full swing now, so maybe more news to come!

Check the Mass Effect 2 website. It's the most current announcement and comes with 3 screenshots.

Today I think, on the ME homepage. So far theres only the announcement that it exists and some screenshots, but it says 'expansion,' so hopefully it will be longer that Overlord.

I mean don't get me wrong, overlord was great! But as usual, more is better.

This should certainly make all the Liara fans happy.

1) I like Liara's outfit.
2) The M-5 pistol makes its debut finally?
3) Looks like a bunch of baddies who aren't dressed in Eclipse or Blue Suns colors.

With the cut dialogue that started the whole Liara/Shadow Broker DLC rumors in the first place, I was a bit disappointed at what I was hearing about the Shadow Broker. Just like any other bad guy. For a person/organization steeped in such mystery, I'd expect the Shadow Broker to be as complicated as everyone makes him/her/it/them out to be. Can't remember if I ever saw a reveal of a mysterious character that met my expectations on badass intelligent deep development, though. Can they manage that in a simple DLC?

Hopefully this is a Dragon-age orgins type of thing. It should be different than overlord, since it kind of implies being between ME2 and 3. Finally a DLC that actually furthers the storyline.

DLC and not an expansion for Liara. I'm certain there will be sad faces on this board for that.

I personally am glad that we are getting this DLC. I've been "waiting" for it ever since I heard the rumors. Maybe this will help quash the awkward confrontation on Illium.

i cringe at the kiss scene EVERYTIME. its so arkward and the whole reunion is just business. hopefully this DLC will help me forget those arkward moments lol.

I've wondered about the DLCs that are supposed to bridge ME2 to ME3. It would make sense to only have the DLC become available after the suicide mission, and then you'd need a surviving Shepard to proceed.

I know that Return to Ostagar for DA:O was supposed to take place before certain events that marked somewhat of a point of no return for you in the game, something you could access even after you've finished the game but without the final outcomes of the endgame coming into play for the DLC. Would hate if this is the route they took with the Liara DLC. "Oh, just imagine it happens after the suicide mission even if you can do it before it!"

I have two hopes for this...

1.) If Tali and Garrus aren't going to have actual dialog then keep the squadmates out of it entirely and make this solely a duo with Liara and Shepard.

2.) Whether or not you gave the Cerberus data to the Shadow Broker should affect this mission.

They also pulled the "just-imagine-your-character-didn't-die-at-the-end-and-magically-returned-as-a-zombie-warden-of-doom" route for Awakening so don't write it out entirely. Image IPB Although the teams ARE different.

I want to know if the squaddies are going to be silent this time, like they were in Overlord.

As somebody who romanced Ashley, I feel somewhat cheated that the other romance option that already had more air time has an entire devoted DLC.

Now I'll hide in a bomb shelter before I get chewed out.

They aren't catering to the dead Shepards, though. Dead Shepard was more of an option just for coolness rather than an actual plot.

The Shadow Broker has had somewhat of a role in the game since ME1 and Liara happens to be tied in with it. The DLC isn't going to be a happy, funtime stroll in the park with Liara, it will be based on the Shadow Broker.

It's more character plot and you might you'll be able to go deeper into her psyche, you might even be able to bring back the old Liara.

And the Shadow Broker still owes me a favor, damnit!

I did wonder what the Ashley/Kaidan fans would think. Or any fan of other squadmates. This is a DLC that focuses on just one of your squadmates, and I'm sure everyone wishes it had been their own favorite squadmate that had gotten such treatment. If this DLC tells a particularly interesting story or furthers the ME plot, I don't much mind. I dislike it when a character is forced into the story just so you can see the character. But perhaps in the future, an Ashley/Kaidan DLC would serve some purpose in bringing Shepard back to the Alliance for some mission regarding the Reapers.
