I just want to add that bioware has consistently released ONE form of paid DLC since alt. Appearance pack 1. Firepower pack was released aug 3rd so maybe we'll get LotSB in sept. At least if Bioware stays consistent to their pattern of releases

We got three pieces of DLC in April:

1) Kasumi
2) The Hammerhead
3) Alternate Appearence pack 1

They mostly released only one thing per month but they have also shown that they can be extremely unpredictable. So anything can happen and it seems highly likely we'll see it before August is over.

That would make no sense within the context of how LotSB ends. You'd have to know how it ends to realize that cannot be the case so I won't spoil it here. There are only two options to keep it coherent and logical:

1) If you do LotSB first you will not get to do the other two side quests again.
2) You need to complete the two side quests before you can activate the LotSB mission.

Ah, those audio files happen to be cut content, and are not contained within the folders marked "LiaraDLC", which happen to be empty. I don't think those audio files will ever see the light of day, and therefore it is not necessary to consider them spoilers.

Yet they clearly can only belong to the liara DLC which we know is coming. They don't need to be in a speciffic folder for them to use these files. All the Kasumi sound files were used in her DLC. I don't think there's any point arguing that these sound files don't belong to this DLC. It may simply mean they intended to have it on the game disc at release but had to cut it out due to pressing schedule so we're getting it now as DLC. That doesn't in any way mean it's not the same content.

Just because they only canapply to the Liara DLC does not necessarily mean that they will be implemented into the Liara DLC. Isn't it alot more plausible that Liara's dialogue, scenes and character direction has been substantially rewritten? Furthermore, why would they ship the game with DLC spoilers included on the disc?

Why? To make their job easier when they have to ship the DLC.....smaller download size, less work for them...all that good stuff. They did it with the Kasumi DLC so why not with this.

And no it wouldn't make sense for them to change the character direction.....a next-gen triple A title costs about 25 million dollars to produce. Now let's say this DLC is a couple of hours long....maybe three or four if it ends up costing $10.....it still ends up being a multiple hundred thousand dollar project if it doesn't end up costing in the millions. They can change level designs, and other smaller parts but they can't really afford to be indecissive pricks about the general direction of such a major project. Not to mention that getting the voice actors to record is an enormous expense that involves a lot of planning and time to call the actors, have them travel, pay them, get a recording studio, line up everyone's schedules and all the rest. And actors aren't cheap mind you. Voiceovers alone are likely to run them a few hundred thousand dollars in costs alone.

I respectfully disagree with you here, LES.

It's quite obvious that all of the ME2 DLC we've seen so far is pre-planned. This means a large number of the DLC files already exist on the game disc. People knew about Kasumi before she was even announced, since her audio files were hidden somewhere on the disc. Same with the hammerhead; the fiiles for that DLC were reported to have been present on the disc prior to release. Judging by this, one wouldn't expect Liara to be an exception.

Imagine it like this:

> Liara's DLC after release

Aren't devs for the 360 almost forced to do this seeing Live limits the size of DLC?

I wouldn't say "forced", but yeah, I know what you mean. Why not?

Ill have to agree with Les for 2 reasons.
1) BW says they have something they are not going to spoil. These guys arent dumb they know about the leaked audio files and such.
2) Chirs said something about not pulling another Kasumi with this pack, and they have learned their lesson as BW.

And besides if it was like Kasumi why wouldnt they just use it right away and get it out of the way and done. People wanted this pack so why release overlord and then LoTSB. Doesnt make sense. I for one havent heard them, thank god, I dont want to hear them and have it spoiled, again thank god but I think I remember the kasumi ones were in a folder for the kasumi DLC, these were in a delete folder. Aka, they had it ready then decided to delete it. Why, who knows maybe to change it up.

The audio files that are on the disk now (if legit) kind of spoil Liara's end fate of this DLC....if they were always planning on using them for the DLC, why would they have left something that big on the disk?

I just seriously doubt that substantial spoilers relating to DLC concerning a core character like Liara would be freely available on the game disc, that's all. Why would they openly spoil the content in that manner? It makes little sense. Whilst Kasumi and the Hammerhead were featured in the game files prior to release, none of them contained spoilers or provided any stark revelations about the relevant content.

Additionally, it is perfectly possible that Liara's character, as implemented in ME2, can be rewritten and redesigned. Not to the extent of the writers being required to alter the character direction to a significant degree, but enough to warrant the disposal of audio files that are no longer necessary. If you actually listen to the audio files, what you're actually hearing is the original reason and intention on BW's part as to why Liara could not accompany Shepard on the suicide mission: that she was searching through the Shadow Broker's data in order to find anything out about the Collectors that will help Shepard in the battles ahead. As we are able to defeat the Collectors without Liara's help, would it not be silly to reimplement this? As I have said, they are cut audio files that are trash, and display BW's original intention with regards to her character implementation in ME2.

Cut content is left on games discs all the time...it's no big concern. Look at how the Hot Coffee minigame was still featured on the San Andreas disc. That's what Liara's audio files are...little more than cut content and trash.

When you say "pulling another Kasumi" what do you mean?

Having spoilers inside the game disc, and ect, ect. He said they learned their lesson about it.

I'd hardly call it "openly" spoiling anything.  It's unused audio that you cannot access without outside means.  I'm not in the habit of sifting through a game's audio files.  Are you?  Would you have dug this up yourself?  Would you have known about this if you didn't frequent these forums?

We don't know if those audio files are spoilers or not, therefore it's safer to assume they are.

That isn't what happened, this is what happened :-

Firewalker Pack (hammerhead) = March 23, 2010

Alternate Appearance Pack = March 23, 2010

Kasumi = April 6, 2010

Equaliser Pack = May 4, 2010

We only got one paid DLC in March and one paid DLC in April.  We then got one paid DLC in May.  The Firewalker pack was free as part of the cerebus network.  Historically we have only ever received one PAID DLC per month.  This is why I do not believe we will see the shadow broker this August.  We have had our PAID DLC this month in the form of the Fire Power pack.

This may sound dumb, Jlb, but we were never supposed to look and search for what's in the files.

No cut content or trash, just cunningly planned DLC hooks. Most likely because their DLC system isn't designed to change or add anything to already in-game characters or areas, which means they simply implemented / stashed away these audio files in advance.

I doubt that BW underestimates the abilities and resourcefulness of PC users that are able to hack and sift through the game files. All it takes is one person to discover them, upload them to YouTube and they're widely available.

These files were found days after the game was released, back in January.

Fair enough.  But I know that if I didn't frequent these forums I would have no idea about the hidden audio files.  Assuming that the vast majority of ME2 players don't frequent these forums, I still think calling it "openly" spoiling is inaccurate.

If you're into that sort of thing, I guess.  YouTube tailors its suggestions based on your viewing history, right?  But yes, if you even run a search for something as basic as "Liara," the hidden audio appears in the results.

With all the DA2 buildup likely done for the time being. Maybe now we will hear something on this early next week.
