As long as this DLC is a good one, I won't care when it comes out or how little info we get about it in the meantime.

Agreed. I do not mind having to wait for this DLC, as any additional time spent developing it would result in it being of a higher quality. However, I do not like the fact that we are all completely unaware of the status of the DLC, and what the release date is. As a result, many of us are beginning to become deeply frustrated and impatient.

I don't mind waiting, I just wish that I knew what the DLC release date is, and adjust my expectations accordingly.

they might just drop it in without a date like they have done with the Firepower pack

those audio files??
those were just cut files / trash so to speak.....they are not going to be used at all

this thread is going at light speed in the direction of the old locked thread and i won't be supprised    if it gets locked too in a few weeks

You don't know what is and is not going to be used, Wicked. Cut or scrapped content and ideas get re-utilized or recycled every now and then. Sonic Unleashed, for example, uses quite a few unused areas for its downloadable stages.

A quest to take down the Shadow Broker with Liara was planned for inclusion in the retail game at some stage, was cut, and left a few residual traces in the game's data. At what stage it was cut, who knows? It may have been decided during development that this sidestory couldn't be included but was too important to abandon completely, thus a compromise: leave the set-up in the game, complete the sideplot in the form of DLC at a later date. Or it's possible they cut it from the main game because they deemed it good DLC material and decided to cash in. It's possible, mind, that it has been re-written, re-recorded, re-structured, or altered in other ways since those lines were recorded. Who knows? The point is that this sidequest was originally intended to be part of the retail game. The evidence is there.

Yes, the mission has always intended to be a part of the game, and the Liara/Shadow Broker story arc was also obviously intended to be continued and concluded in ME2, but I think that a significant amount of it's content has been rewritten, restructured and reorganised, which results in those audio files no longer being applicable, and therefore cut.

i have never heard of this ''evidence'' that  it was supposed to be in the full game, just that  those files were supposedly some sort of place holders for future DLC
wich i do not believe is the case,
since i do believe it is being re-written maybe even multiple times
but you might have a point. even the cash in thingy could be true, heck BW is a business after all... not to say that i would be happy if they would pull something like that but we may never know.

I feel the same way about waiting for this DLC as I do about Valve's next Half-Life installment:
-I've already made the decision to buy it.

So now I don't care what Valve and Bio-Ware do, as long as they keep putting out quality work!
The release date doesn't matter!

Just make the game good! Everything else will fall into place.

Or pretty much any of their packs to be honest XD i swear the maximum warning of a release date we've had so far has been like a week tops. I'm still keeping hope that we'll hear something about it from Gamescom.

As far as i'm concerned i'm thinking about NOT buying it unless it has a minimum playtime of at least 4-6 hours, has dialogue for your squaddies and some enhancements for biotics.
Yeah, I'm demanding the hell out of it since they had enough frickin' time to implement stuff while they were stalling.
If it doesn't meet at least the play time, then no LotSB for me, i've had it with being kept in the dark like this, what a way to alienate your fans BW...

There is no evidence and your understanding borders on Tin Foil Hat level conspiracy theory. DLC is planned when the game is planned, except maybe for very minor things, like new armor or a new gun. On top of that Voice Acting is one of the very first things done in the production cycle. Before anything of what we consider a game is even past it's infantcy (IE programing, modeling, texturing, animation). Audio files don't prove anything, all if proves is they had eronius audio that was done very early in production for future DLC and they decided to throw it on the disc because they had room for it and it would save us on download time later.

this  can also be the reason why the game was on 2 discs instead of 1. that to me says they had everything planned out and honestly i hope they keep shelling out dlc to us till mass effect 3 comes out. id love to see something dlc wise about the hanar homeworld where thane tells you he was trained

The best part is, the DLC is already done.

Or so that's what I think is the case. Certification and testing are probably why it's been on hold all this time. Not because they're still working on it.

I agree with you on this...they wouldn't announce it until it was finished on their end.  It wouldn't make sense to do otherwise.   Even if development was almost finished, things could go terribly wrong, crazy bugs could still be found, etc. that would delay it an unforseen amount.  Thus, it would make sense to not even say anything until the DLC was completed/tested/fixed by them.

I don't know much about this Certification process, but it seems quite involved.

DLC is ultimately software. The final stage of the software development cycle is testing, which can take anything between a few minutes to months, depending on several factors.

That said, we SHOULD get something within the next week.

It's August now, the only thing you've released is the news no one wanted hear; Mass Effect 2 for PS3.

Thanks for taking a giant sh*t on our face. Good Game. No Rematch.

It really does feel like one hell of a  kick in the face, but who ever said life was fair?

This is what I am expecting, and hoping for. The DLC was announced almost one month ago, and unless there are serious problems or there has been a catastrophic, unforeseen error, it would make no sense to confirm the existence of the DLC, and then proceed to say absolutely nothing about it for an entire month.

Well...they said more info as we head into August. Maybe they meant, 'As we head out of August'?

Anyways, if that is correct, then we should hear something next week, as that's the last full week of August.

Why does it 'not make sense'? What requirement is there for them offer any info at all?

It is probably already done... but they want to let the PS3 announcement to continue momentum a little while more before they release it. Face it... PC and 360 fans of ME are not important to EA/Bioware now and won't be thought about until they start announcing ME3.

Uh, because it's beyond bizarre and unorthodox to announce something, and then proceed to say absolutely nothing about it for in excess of a month?

I don't feel entitled to information in the slightest, as you quite gracefully tried to insinuate. I just find the silence over the whole thing to be exceedingly strange.

As if the PS3 would be more important than the two Systems that made this game.

...apart from the fact that PS3 owners still have to wait almost another 5 months until they get their copy of the game, almost a full year after it came out for both 360 and PC. Plus the fact that Bioware is essentially being extra nice to them by creating custom "bridging" content to make up for the fact that they are actually getting the middle game of a trilogy.

PC and 360 fans are not important to EA/Bioware now...did you forget the title of this thread? A 360-exclusive DLC for almost 5 months that further expands the story, you've seen how much anticipation there is from the sheer length of the now two threads that have been created just for a DLC that isn't even out yet. There is also one final (?) piece of DLC to come out that will be the official "prelude" so to speak to ME3, and this was announced albeit in rumour months ago.

If PC/360 owners are getting this excited about an upcoming piece of DLC right now imagine how PS3 owners feel, having to wait another 5 months just to play the base game never mind all the additional DLC.
