Considering how we were just talking about people accusing BioWare of being racist for not allowing certain contests to be applicable to certain countries. I was saying that it was simply against the law to let other ethnicities do it (because of our conservative views back then).

Man, this stupid joking degrades you as much as this serious technical issue which affects thousands of players in the middle-middle eastern region of Europe. It was a shame you brought this dumb "calling racist" joke up...
So please, I hereby ask you, don't do this.
Bioware didn't answer anything useful yet, and if they see this sh*t in the official announcement thread, they won't even care about it.

You think they will support us, if some of us cannot keep their emotions for themselves? I don't think so. Making demands? Setting timelines? Why some people can't hold on a day without being rude and annoying?

You know, if we all started calling Bioware racist toward Slovians etc, they'd be absolutely defenceless. Nowadays everyone is so afraid of being accused of being prejudiced...

Anyway, I registered my ME2 in EA Download Manager and I am starting the download. 9,6GB... this'll take a day... I'll install it and find out what is the default language,

If it's English, then Bioware's "technical problems" are a bunch of cr@p. If we won't be able to buy the DLC from our countries (country-wide IP block, they happen and they work) that means they're just "racist".

What is the English word for being "racist" towards a country/nation, not a race? ;)

Give them time, a few days. Bioware is a huge company, those things take the more time the bigger the company is.

Guys this is not something that having the english version of the game will magically fix. The code for the different language versions should be almost exactly the same. There has to be some other explanation.

I could be wrong, and maybe it is a coding problem. We wont know until a rep says something official.

The fact that they have said nothing so far may be a good thing. They might be working on something to fix the problem, and are waiting to see if works. Then again that would not explain why they made their original statement.

Their "technical issue" is they wont translate those DLCs (Lelianas Song and ShadowBroker) because of low sales of previous DLCs in those four (five) countries. So they decided it doesnt worth translating those and further DLCs for those four countries since its not so profitable for them.
Additionally for Shadowbroker they wont release it for affected countries, because since whole game is in one language, this pieces of shadowbroker DLC would be only in english and that would broke game "high standard" or whatever you want call it so they wont release it at all.
Iam sure Bioware could solve it if they want to but they wont, because it would not bring them enough money.
So there you go, mystery solved.

As for Biowares silence that could be down to many things, perhaps they are hoping everyone complaining about this issue will get tired and the whole thing will die down, who knows ?

Mmh, they've already made their "official" reply, whining about it for days isn't going to fix it. As I understand it, the scenario runs like this: 1) The DLC is heavy on VO, so it's expensive to localise. This means that it is not financially viable to localise it for some medium-sized (Eastern European) markets that had the initial game (and possibly some earlier DLC) localised. 2) The technical issue is that plugging in English DLC to a, say, Polish game does, for some reason, not work. 3) End result = No DLC for those areas.

Now, if you're demanding that Bio should localise the game for you at a loss, you're just being childish.

I have no idea how common it is to localise games in these areas, as in my local market we only ever get the "international English"/UK version. Obviously, if most games are just English, without even non-English subtitling like here, the original idea to localise the main game wasn't too good in the first place.

Of course, all the PC users are in the happy position that they're able to get the English version FOR FREE from EA. Those out of luck are the x360 users, who might not be able to get the game even if they bought the EU English version. And THAT, if true, is indeed unfair. (Not the buying of the second copy of the game, I've bought two versions of it already myself, x360 and PC CE both at full price). :P

They are not Blizzard's size after al...

No, they known that they made very law questionable move so they are now scarred that after all people CAN proved that there are no technical issues involved in this whole case.

I am not programer but even i known that only way to made this DLC incompatible whit our games is if they made heavy changes in core engine (like introducing next generation of such)... but funny thing is this would made this DLC unusable for EVERYONE and not only for localized versions.

And once again i ask WHY there are no problems whit German version or any other European localized versions?

Somehow i still think that EA chief didn't noticed that since V/2000 Poland and three other countries ARE part of European Union and i seriousy hope that EU Arbitrary Court will not be needed to remind him about that.

I am guessing Liara isn't a playable character. Would be sweet if that was the case. Does pose a question though, if she is does that mean she can be killed in the suicide mission?
Oh and if you gave certain information to a certain person in the first one, will that be reflected?Posted Image

@Funker Shepard.

Since i use delocalized version of ME 2 localization don't concern me and all i want to known from Bioware is:

Will i be able to purchase and download this DLC OR there will be imposed regional IP lock on this DLC?

Simple question for which answer could take very short typing...

You are making a lot of "assumptions" there Funker Shepard as far as I know Bioware have not said this is down to sales. The OFFICIAL reply merely states technical issues prevent them releasing the content in a localised form and "quality" issues prevent them from releasing the English DLC for people with localised copies.

No one here is demanding Bioware localise the DLC, I am certainly not demanding that. All people are asking for is to create a situation where Polish, Hungary, Czech, Slovenia and Ukraine ME gamers can play the DLC (in it's English form).

Now as you say PC users are in the happy situation that they can download the English version with no problem. The problem is xbox 360 users stuck with the localised version. In my book it is unacceptable for a company such as Bioware to go "we tried to fix the problem, we couldn't, so tough luck". They have a moral obligation to their customers and if they cannot fix the game then they should offer ME 2 customers a replacement English copy so they have an opportunity to play this DLC.

This problem is not insurmountable it just depends on how committed Bioware are to it's customers.

also is the "Technical issue" thyngy a thing that goes deep into engine [doubtful] or it's a simple local thing that can be overtaken by delocalisation?

One more thing for all who claim that localized versions didn't poses necessary English files inside i want to say in very right moment when i switch to INT version via sku file my game shouldn't even started...

But surprise, surprise... not only runs at highest settings but i didn't have ANY problems to play even latest English version of Overlord DLC... strange isn't it?:o

That's why i known now that whatever those "technical issues" are they are NOT related to DLC...<_<

Ok guys (& gals), here's the deal:

1 - To care about the LOTSB DLC enough to stretch this thread out 100 pages in seeking an answer to the problem, you're going to have to give Bioware at least a week to respond. That is if you are honestly wanting and waiting for an answer.

2 - To keep repeating the same comments over and over again is just to keep the emotional turmoil going to achieve some kind of psychological satisfaction that you're 'getting even' with the other side. Problem is, it's also elevating your emotions at the same time and will eventually drain you. Let it rest. This is not saying to give up. I'm saying to let rest and relax your emotions a little. And no, I'm not a psychologist or a psychiatrist, it's common sense.

3 - Question: Has anyone in each of the countries affected by this even tried (or already doing so) downloading the International versions of ME2, and does it work?? If so, there's what's probably going to be your final answer. Like it or not.

4 - Before you start flaming me, search for my posts in this thread and read the one that starts "TO Bioware:". No, I'm not going to link it here. If you've already made up your mind that I'm against you or picking on you, then it won't matter anyway.

Best of Luck to ya'll and I'm back outta here.

I'm excited about getting some new content. I've noticed a new blank crew slot has opened up. I guess that's for Liara. Sweet.

Sadly the pirated versions really are a better choice. It doesn't bother me with annoying disc-checks, it doesn't have problems with DLC verification and it doesn't have region-specific limitations. Maybe I'd feel wringing of conscience, but why would I pay when I get treated like some second-rate customer?

That's really always my problem with these things. If I didn't know better, I'd think the game companies want you to steal their stuff. All I want is to be able to buy games, pop them in and play them in their original version (i.e. not mutilated by some horridly bad localization, especially voice-heavy games like ME) with no hassle, but that's getting more and more difficult because I'm actually willing to pay for my games and don't want to pirate them. There's something very wrong with this scenario.

If this DLC really just doesn't run with the localized versions of some countries, it's just mind-bogglingly bad planning. Bioware said from the start that there would be DLC for this game, so the least they could've done is to make sure all of the various localized versions would be able to run everything when they were originally released. I'm sure most people who played, say, the Polish version of the game would prefer English-only DLC over no DLC at all.

I have the Singaporean version for 360, which luckily runs on my European console. I had to go out of my way to get this version because as some folks here may remember, the German version doesn't contain the English audio (another fine example of the honest, paying customer getting screwed.) So far I've been able to buy and run all of the DLC in English, but we'll see with this one, I guess. I actually have no idea if the previous DLC even had German audio, does someone know?

well i think it would be very polite and kind from BW side to tell us something like "we're working on the answers for you please wait couple more days"
because that thing would assure me i would actually get some response and staying silent just doubles my doubts.......

while I agree that it sucks that BioWare is not releasing the new DLC in some countries, it is very far fetched to consider this as "law has been broken".

If you run a company, it is your right to deny certain countries goods that are not technically compatible or because of something else. Going around DEMANDING something is not going to make a company give it to you, either which way.
