Actualy that is not true... they are mono-gendered not female. If you listen to Liara in ME1 when she talks about the Asari, she says they are mono-gendered.. she says female and male mean nothing to them. They aren't female, they aren't male.. they're just Asari.. Asari being an "all female race" is just what the Codex guy said because human are used to the idea that anything with breasts is female... in most casesPosted Image

Yet Mass Effect 2 CLEARLY recognizes Liara's assistant as female. There is no denying that Liara instantly identifies who the Broker's agent was as soon as learning it was a female. The asari are and were clearly intended by the developers as female. Mono means "same"......hence mono-gendered species literally means same-sex species.

Damn... I seriously don't know what to say... I hadn't though of that.. all evidence points to your truth. Okay... you win Posted Image

In all honesty, we still don't know the Shadow Broker really is a 'he'....I know Capt. Anderson used that pronoun in ME1, and Liara in ME2, but it may be that they were just using the default pronoun. Plus, they might be trying to trick you into thinking it is a 'he' when it is not...who knows?

No one can say with 100% certainty that the Shadow Broker is male.

Everyone is just speculating.

That's the fun part B)

no argument here.

I think I agree with you.

Using a human's conceptual scheme, the asari are 'female' in the sense that they very closely resemble the biological sex that we have named 'female'.  They also give birth, and that is one criteria we use to determine 'femaleness'.

To an asari, the concepts of male and female do not exist, because they only have one biological sex and there is no need to label it to differentiate it from another.  Though, some may have adopted concepts used by other species and those asari may call themselves 'female'.

A human (and possibly other species) will consider asari female, while the asari themselves do not.

OCD much? j/k Posted Image

Haha, no not at all. But it is very addicting. At first it was too slow, but the patch apparently fixed that, and so did the mineral scanning upgrade. It's fun to send those little probes in. :D

Especially into Uranus!

Yes and no.  Yes because that means I could play it tomorrow!!!!!

No because I have to work tomorrow.  I'd prefer it if I can take the day off in order to play this DLC.

I called off last week, so I can't pull that stunt again.

I don't think they will do a surprise release of this, though.  They will have a trailer and a set release date like Overlord.

Yes, that's my whole point...humans will always consider them female as they look like human females.

Yes me too.....my biggest hope was that Christina Norman's tweet saying she couldn't wait for the SHadow Broker DLC to be released meant she expected it to be soon.....yes yes I know that's just wishful thinking but hopefully it is at least out of their hands and into MS certiffication if not past MS certification.

As for the Asari gender discussion I'll drop that as it's a dead horse....no point in beating it and I have made my point.

I think most people are hoping for a release today. as far as I know there isnt a releas date for it. Been waiting for this since it was rumored way back when ME2 was released. Oh well waited this long, can wait alittle longer.

And yes it's ok to hope.

I assume it will be closer to 800 beacuse liara is very popular

I can see why the Asari would be looked upon as female. But in keeping an open mind that I meet a species I know nothing about except what I learn by talking and being around them, and have it explained to me as Liara did in ME1, I would have to accept that although they may 'look' female, they look upon themselves as neither male nor female. To protect my own sanity about this, when Liara mentions her father, then I would look upon that Asari as male.

So after futher thought after this discussion, I still believe the SB=Liara's Dad=Aria

No DLC has been over 560 MS points yet, though I think this will be a bit more. I doubt it will be over 1000. It might be 800 or so.

They never gave a release date for Darkspan Chronicles and Overlord.......they only acknowledged the release after the fact.

The Asari view themselves as neither male or female. I view them as that. They don't call themselves male/female or mother/father they're partners.. Liara refers to Benezia's partner as her "father" only because she is talking to Shepard and she's trying to put it in words he can understand
