The problem with that though is that the back button is in a very useless position. it either requires ou to remove your thumb from the left analog stick or do the same with your right thumb. With the dpad it is in an easier position (just under the left analog stick), so if you have a problem you can easily switch back to normal. I had the same problem with grenades back in ME1, the back button is in a very bad position to be properly used.
Okay, then make the
BACK button call all of your squadmates to you, and change d-pad down into the last squadmate's positioning button. Its poor placement isn't really a problem when you can pause the game at the drop of a hat to assign commands.
I don't see it happening though. Does anyone know how many lines refer to Shepard's group as a group of three? I know it occurs in Archangel's recruitment mission.
