they've never had such a lead up for any dlc yet... maybe this means it will be big. january-august is even more time than november-march when they came out with awakening.

They already started working on Awakening while during their final year on Origins, when the main game itself was delayed.

Maybe the ShadowBroker is that guy from Enterprise who always gives orders to the Suliban.

They look identical

What's the problem?  They made the announcement  3 weeks ago - that's hardly a long time ago.  And the firepower pack was released just over a week ago.  I'm not expecting anything till September.

Anyway, isn't it obvious why they announced it back then?  It's just marketing - just enough info to keep most fans interested and hardcore fans hooked.  And yes, indeed, look at the thread; it's working.

Last time I checked it was OVER three weeks ago and we still haven't heard anything new, the firepower pack was released nearly 2 weeks ago (it will be two weeks this Tuesday).  To make an announcement about "DLC" then go silent for 3 weeks not saying a thing especially when some are concerned they won't be able to access it is a bit sloppy.

I am not expecting to see this DLC till September which also reenfoces the fact they announced this way too early.  When I said "look at this thread" I mean it, just look at the posts people are talking about pretty much everything BUT the damn DLC because there is nothing to talk about with regards to the DLC.

I could understand a long lead time if this was an "expansion" but it isn't it is a bit of DLC.

Anyone think that maybe they plan to release the DLC the same week that the first trailer for DA2 makes it appearance.

On average, the ME2 DLC has been released about 1 per month. This will be released either the first or second Tuesday in September. Most likely September 7, but maybe September 14.

This could be a good thing, however. The fact that BW may have made the conscious choice to allow hype to build for marketing purposes could imply that this DLC is extremely substantial and expansive, as that indicates that they would wish to generate as much interest in the content as possible.

Dude seriously, the only reason you're saying they've announced this too early is because you're impatient.  You should chill man - you'll get it.  It's not that they've anounced this too early, it's that a some hardcore fans - who naturally gravitate toward this forum - can barely wait for these things.  It's actually a bit disturbing, it's like watching drug addicts...

As for mid-europe, I believe they will be able to be the english version.  Apparently a mod on the polish site said that, but I'm not sure.

Dude seriously   I said it was my point of view so god knows why you are arguing with it, if you don't think it was announced too early then fine in your opinion it wasn't announced too early.  I specifically said at the beginning "PERSONALLY" I think the Liara DLC was announced too early.  I am not all that hyped for the Liara DLC at all now to be honest, I am more hyped for Mafia 2.  But that doesn't mean I can't comment on the fact I feel that Bioware are letting their fans down.

I PERSONALLY don't think it is very professional to annouce DLC when it could be nearly 2 months away from actual release.  If this was a full expansion or a game then sure I could accept a long lead time between announcement and release.  But it isn't it is just a bit of DLC that may last an hour at best.  They announced it, told a crap load of people they won't have access to it and then haven't bothered commenting since.

As for mid-europe I can't comment on what some polish mod said, I can only comment on what we have seen in here.  That is Polish, Hungary, Czech and Slovenia copies will not be compatible with this DLC and they will not be able to play it.  This is an important issue for many users on this board but again we get nothing from bioware.

Now PC gamers are sorted, they can download the international English version for free with EA's download manager.  However that doesn't help the thousands of Xbox users that won't be able to do that.

Overlord was announced on May 13th, and released on June 15th. Seeing that LotSB was announced on July 22nd, it would make sense if they end up releasing it on August 24th. I would of course much rather prefer if they release it ASAP, but so far there isn't really any reason to say they "announced it too early".

I more or less said the same yesterday, then I got flamed for it.

Given how close this release is to the start of term, for high school, college and university, very poor move to give us absolutely no information on a release date. Since I'm moving out in September, I seriously doubt I will have any free time to put into Mass Effect for a good while. It would be courtesy to give us a suggested release date so I'm not stuck here wondering if I'm going to be able to play this game or not. Considering i'm currently swimming in free time, I'd much rather spend it playing the game (or at the very least know when I need to sign onto the site or know if I'm just wasting my time anyway) rather than constantly checking the forum for updates.

Very much this. In a month or so I will have zero time for anything Mass Effect. It's either these days or several months later.

DLC is typically announced (about) a month in advance, however that usually comes w/ a launch date and a price tag. The reason people are freaking out is, A: Highly anticipated DLC and B: No real info was given when it was announced. LotSB is a bit of an exception to the rule here, so natually people are curious as to what is going on.
