At the rate this thread is going with simple speculation and excitement I wouldn't be surprised. Watch it balloon to 500+ when we get a release date, and then a trailer...and then the thing itself.

At what point do we engineer a genophage to winnow the ranks in this thread?

ok now thats beaing stupid ME will never go to sony 1 because bioware hate sony 2 the first game was made and released as a 360 exclusive but of course MGS hade to put it on pc like they did the halo trilogy but the fact remains that halo had many people saying it was gonna get put on the PS2 but it just never happened just like it will never happen with the ME trilogy;)PrinceOfFallout13 wrote...
the same was said about MGS4 and look how that turned outFunker Shepard wrote...

As far as I'm concerned people need to give up on this ME2 PS3 port because it is not gonna happen due to the simple reason that ME1 won't be ported to the PS3 due to Microsoft owning the publishing rights to the game.
Have you seen the publishing agreement for ME1? No, didn't think so.
Since the IP is owned my EA/Bioware, it's possible that Microsoft's agreement might be limited to, say, 3 years, when the rights would revert to EA/Bio this November.
It's obvious that the rights to this franchise are a lot more complicated than the standard "publisher holds all rights" setup, as evidenced by the lack of a microsoft logo on ME2.
EA/Bio might well pull a "George Lucas" as they control the franchise rights - make a bunch of adjustments to the ME1 content, such as yank out the ME1 exp system and replace it with the ME2 mission based exp (unlikely, but possible) and/or just pack in onto a single blu-ray with ME2 and call it Mass Effect: Attack of the Reapers.
All I'm saying is that the reason for the lack of a PS3 version are obviously contractual and related to Microsoft, but there are no grounds for assuming that the rights situation is PERMANENT.
Now, where's that lair? The Shadowbroker's really giving us the runaround here, I'm still waiting for payback for that Cerberus info...
Edit: Even if ME1 were unportable, all they'd really need to do was flesh out the "interrogation" scene in the Kodiak after the initial space station, add a bunch of flashbacks, cutscenes and exposition and allow the player to make the decisions in the narrative!

1. Not true, at all.
2. Microsoft published Mass Effect on the Xbox 360 for the obvious reason as to secure exclusivity and give people another reason to buy the system. The franchise is, for all intents and purposes, not bound to any Microsoft contract anymore. EA owns publishing rights, at the very least for Mass Effect 2.
3. The Halo Trilogy is not on PC, only 1 and 2.
4. Halo was never going to the PS2, and anybody with their head screwed on knew it, because (at the time) Microsoft owned Bungie, and Microsoft own the Halo intellectual property. It would be like expecting Mario on the Xbox.
As it stands, EA/BioWare own the Mass Effect franchise. Microsoft do not. There might be a contract still down for Mass Effect 1, and there may have been a temporary exclusivity agreement for Mass Effect 2, but its really not crazy to think the franchise could go across a third platform.
And I bloody hope it does. The more people who get to play Mass Effect, the better.

I don't think it will be released tomorrow. Bioware said they'll be revealing more info as we go into august. Clearly we're well in here, but no info. We might just get a few more screens, and then a late aug/early september release. Unfortunately thats what it looks like.

Let's hoping. Tomorrow's Gamescom is the best place (IMHO) for announcing the DLC, using the EA conference they will give a lot of visibility at LotSB. Talking about marketing reasons, tomorrow is the best date for me.
I really think (and hope

Still Microsoft owns Mass Effect 1 and I dought that BioWare/EA will release Mass Effect on PS3 'cause they'll only get the 3rd one. Pretty stupid...
"Coming soon to PS3.. Mass Effect 3, the epic trilogy concludes summer 2012"
PS3 Gamers: "WTF is Mass Effect?"

Where and when Bioware declared they hate sony?
There was at least 2 baldur's gate on PS2
Devs don't do "exclusive game" on this or that console because they "hate" the other one, it's because microsoft or sony or nintendo are willing to pay a LOOOOOT of money to ensure the others won't have the same game, in order to sell more consol.
Bioware is a property of EA, EA release games on Sony consol.
Halo, couldn't be ported to ps2, because it was an exclusifity for the Xbox (a games devlopped FOR microsoft).
And i can assure you, Microsoft can put lot of money to get exclusive liscence, when i was working in video game company some years ago, our company was requested (like many other) to propose a racing game project for the first Xbox, and the contract were the best we devs could get, because it was specified by Mircrosoft "Budget is not a matter if the proposed project is worth the quality for the Xbox advancement".
And Microsoft is also good to break other "exclufivity", like FFXIII ... it was confirmed it would be PS3 only, then came Micro$oft... and tadaaaaa !
The exclusivity is not mean to last forever, it depend about the contract.
