I wanted to give a bit more insight into the Polish, Czech and Hungarian builds for our fans.

Believe me, we tried to make it work for these languages. DA was able to release English DLC for these localized versions of the game, but that isn't the case for us. On the Mass Effect side, it isn't as simple. By allowing the players of these versions to use the English DLC, there would be large scale changes to the main-game player experience. We didn't want to sacrifice the quality of the main game, and tried to work around this in various ways. In the end, unfortunately, we were unable to come to a solution which allowed us to release this content in these territories and keep the same level of quality from the main game.

I'd like to personally apologize to anyone in these regions who are dissapointed, and please know that it wasn't an easy decision to make.

Bullsh!t.

After week there will be cracked working version of this dlc with adequate localized subtitles.

How could you make a game that is incompatible with your own DLCs?

It is a total failure on development line... Congrats for devs!

I can't really comment on Fable 2 I have never played it.  So you are saying there was no localisation in Fable 2? that is Fable 2 and it obviously works well.  However for Mass Effect 2 Bioware obviously is under the impression that localising the DLC to match these territories is an important issue and it couldn't be done for "technical" reasons.  So they felt that releasing a non-localised version would break the game and so they aren't doing it.

Fable II has pretty decent localization (much better than the original Mass Effect 2 localization), but the DLC however is not localised (there is no official LIVE in PL, CZ, SK and HU after all).
Those technical reason probably mean some of the new English text would create some big problems in the original game.

I still believe the reason Polish, Hungary and Czech are going to miss out is down to the file size of the DLC.  If they add these languages it pushes the DLC over the 2gb limit.  However unless Bioware actually tells us what the great technical hurdle is, we will never know.

We will hopefully see about that pretty soon. Not like it would change anything...

Size? Just 2 versions could be created. EFIGS + EE. Separate with Version Check in installer.
They have created 2 different installes for game, so they can do it for DLCs.

In my opinion the main subject is MONEY here.

seriously Bioware/EA can't be surprised if people start to look for illegal way to obtain this dlc...

really a way to fight against piracy... customer gets nothing even though he is willing to pay while pirate gets everything for free without any obstacles...

I just saw this, so can someone fill me in? The Liara DLC won't work with the Hun/Chech/Slovak/Polish version? Or just no local subtitles? I play it in english so i won't care, but please make it work.

ya know, this is totally random and maybe a bit late... but in one of the new screenshots tali is holding a shuriken sub. I know it's just a screenshot, but I wonder if bioware has made changes to your squademates load outs?

Alot of squadmates wield weapons they can't use in cutscenes. Suicide mission being the best example!

Yeah, that's true, but usually it's the avenger... or so I thought.
Hmm, come to think of it there are plenty of times tali used the shuriken in cutscenes.
It just didn't hit me until now. lol, my bad.

Right now it seems like it wont work with said versions at all.

We are all disappointed, but this is getting ridiculous.

Yeah, I hope there is going to be at least some officially unsupported workaround (at least on the PC, since you guys may do some changes to the ini files and stuff).

The M5 and a new badass assualt rifle, and not only that but the chance to team up with Liara and confront the Shadow Broker face to face. Buying this for sure, can't wait to light up the Shadow Broker til' he/she's or they are swiss cheese! 100X thankyou Bioware!

I just came up with a theory. Hear me out-

The Shadow Broker is not a single individual. The Shadow Broker is a single individual at ANY GIVEN TIME.

TSB has existed way before humans were even known to the rest of the galaxy, so I think its a chain effect-

Someone will be the Shadow Broker. When they feel they're time is running short for whatever reasons(age, someone looking to kill them, "suicide mission" of sorts), they find a pupil to become the new Shadow Broker and take over the necessary business of collecting, purchasing, selling, and distributing information across the galaxy.

Feron being the current Shadow Broker(or someone Feron works for).

Everything Liara went through to get Shepard's body back was a test. The Shadow Broker got involved and made sure Liara would find out it was "him".

Thus, Liara would get involved in the information trade business and eventually gain enough sway to finally take "him" down, Liara then becoming the new Shadow Broker in the process.

Its just a theory. Personally, I'd rather it NOT go this way, as I want the Shadow Broker to survive for ME3 and possibly beyond.

That's an interesting theory, actually.  I don't see them doing this, but it would be something.

Thanks. It just came to me really. I wouldn't want it like that, but it would be interesting if it turned out like that in any way.

So for you guys in middle europe, is there no option to play in english? In any case it seriously sucks that you don't get to have this DLC! Especially since it seems WAY more important and relevant to the main story than all the other dlc's...

Thank you for this reply Mr. Gamble but, as someone already said this is compleate bullpoo.

Please don't give us a speach about hard choices and quality loss, because it's compleatly ridiculous, it just doesn't make any sense.

If you guys wanted to ensure high quality of your product, maybee you should have started with assembling a trustworthy quality asurance team for the localisations, because some of them were just horible. And if you don't think that it was that bad - I got the game the exact day it was released, and there already were VO fixes on the internet, because so many people couldn't stand those poor voice overs. Maybee I'm generalising but If there's anyone using the Polish VO, it's not because it's fine - it's because he doesn't know english. It was enough of a joke considered the big pump that made out of this project's VO.

Really, someone asked this but how is it even possible that your company made a game and now is unable to make DLC compatibile with some versions of it? Technicaly. You made a whole new version of your game for us here? I'm honored... so why is it not as good as other versions. What does it mean you don't want to hurt our player experience? Maybee we want to be bloody hurt? Maybee you should simply let us hurt ourselves? Why can't you release the DLC with a notice that it might screw up the game? I'm willing to write a legal agreement that I won't sue you if my game screws up after installing this addon, I understand that not giving us anything is better than giving us something that won't be in our own language? Awesome, hooray for patriotism, "everyone knows that Poles, Hungarians and Czeh can't speak english - why we even bother"... is that the same reason you guys never even gave us the choice to install the game in english, so we had to change the game files in order to run the game properly? Fascinating, considering that the english VO files were still installed on our machines. Also interesting since the armor packs text was not localised when it got released - back then our experience was not so important?

I have every single DLC for Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. I purchased them, and I think it's worth mentioning that whoever pirated the game was able to use all the bonus/preorder/CA/digital download items from day one... I waited for it untill Aegis Pack.

I would also like to quote something here:

We recognize that BioWare has a global community, and the Bazaar this week was originally intended to be an international event to reflect our truly global fanbase. Unfortunately, we encountered some last-minute legal complications around how contests can be structured in different parts of the world that prevented us from including all territories in this first event, even though that was our original goal.  And for that, we sincerely apologize – our goal with this sort of celebration is to show all our fans worldwide how much we appreciate your support!

BioWare definitely really values all members of our world-wide Community, no matter where you live.  Accordingly, in the coming weeks, we will be announcing details about future events specifically for fans living in those territories which were excluded from participating in the first BioWare Bazaar.  The future events will be a bit different from the first Bazaar in how they’re set up and structured, but our goal is to feature the same caliber of awesome prizes and great BioWare collectibles.  We’ll announce more details in the coming weeks :)

This situation makes both, your post, and Mr. Muzyka's post from the past a joke, not to mention that nothing ever came in those "comming weeks"... unless you consider "comming weeks" to be 4 months.

EDIT: as far as my rant was a bit too much, and as usual it took me few hours of doing something else to realise it. I am going to buy the DLC when it comes out, but it is kind sad that I have to do anything more than simply download and install it on my legaly bought copy of the game... to throw in something cliche - earning trust is a long proces, loosing it takes seconds.

I have to admit I am still absolutely staggered that Bioware are just going to cut out Polish, Hungry and Czech ME fans. It seems incredibly sloppy and disgraceful especially from a developer like BIoware that is supposed to have a triple A reputation.

I get the feeling Bioware seem to conclude "it is not technically possible" too many times. After all we never got a helmet toggle for the armour because it wasn't "technically possible". Now yet again another issue that is going to affect hundreds of thousands of ME fans and once again out comes the "it isn't technically possible" excuse.

I am English and this issue doesn't affect me but right now I have gone from "yeah Liara DLC" to "hm do I want to support this DLC". As much as I want to have Liara back in the game I don't think I am going to bother with this DLC myself. I really think Bioware need to reassess this situation and come up with a more viable solution where all ME fans can use this DLC.

Interesting. A Dread Pirate Robert version of the SB.  Whether it works out this way or not, I think you have the ending right.  As for this being a dlc, I don't think it ever mattered who the SB was, but who will replace him.  In ME3 Liara will take TIM and the Council's place, feeding Shep info and resources. I like the idea as it would make a romance very challanging.  Of course, I could be wrong.

I wonder sometimes if "it is not technically possible" translates to "it is not cost effective", which would actually be a fair point, but just doesn't sound as good from a PR stand point.

I'd rather Hackett be giving me my intel than Liara.

I want Li on my squad. I want the whole gang back together.
