I had Alistar aggro the chick and then just focus fired each golem. Had my mage use Cone of Cold for crowd control.

I had Shale, Oghren and Wynne with me, I selected the whole party to atack one golem at a time, getting Wynne to heal as we went or using the lyrium veins when she needed to recharge mana, When all of the golems were down we went after Branka, as long as you keep on top of healing it's much easier to take her down when you're not being bashed at by golems Posted Image

yeah tried that, no luck, Alistair goes down like a $2 hocker. I can get 1 or 2 golems down but then it just goes pear shaped. Is there a place on the map that i can stand, to have bad guys come at me 1 at a time... plus i don't have the cone of cold thing, i've got the fire one.

Have you tried up the ledge behind the big golem? I honestly didn't go looking for a place like that but that's less open than the rest of the area. Have you got your tactics set up so the healer automatically has a lyrium potion when mana drops below a certain level? And make sure Alistair has his tactics set to take a health potion when his health drops below a certain level?

Sorry if I'm teaching you how to suck eggs, hope it's some help.

I did that part with no healing and 4 warriors.

Here is how I had my party set up,

PC, ( me ) Tank, S&S full juggernaut.

Alistair, Tank S&S, he has mixed set, massive helm, buy matching gloves/chest, and massive boots.

Dwarf guy, all massive dwarf armor, large 2 hander, I wish he was a S&S, S&S dwarfs at that bridge look so killer.

Sten, He has the dwarf death guys armor on, and he looks killer, he uses the 2 hander found from the special throne room encounter

I ended up not taking my normal party of PC, rouge girl, Al, and morg, because I had to bring that stupid dwarf along, so I made a all warrior group, and ended up running out of healing items.

The glowing blue veins will heal you, use them, take the golems out first, and keep using the veins to heal, the nice golems will tank her for a bit, then you can really whip up on her, I was level 15 when I did it, and it was a breeze.

Before the battle I already hated Branka, after the battle even more so.

I had a tough time with her as well, and i didnt want to go back to an old save so I could switch party members. it took me a few tries but eventually it worked out.

I took out the golems first, used wynne to keep everyone alive. By the time all the golems were down only two of use were left. I tried kiting until she split into 4. That sucked! I only had to kill one of the clones before I found the real one, I could tell she was the real deal since she took much longer to kill than the clone.

Maybe i need to patch the game so its a bit easier, but I'm scared of it not launching afterward...

I am close to doing this battle for the first time (either tonite or tomorrow, depends on when I get time). I have read all the tips and hints on the forum about it, but am sure it is going to be a struggle. The things I think are vital, and this is strictly from reading, are 1) work on the golems from least to best in order and 2) use the lyrium viens (one post indicated they actually will recharge during the fight).

I am not thrilled with the group I have drug through the Deep Roads - PC Mage (AW/SH), Leliana (totally archery) Bard/Duelist, Shale and Oghren.

Anyone have tips on Shale - I do not think I am getting everything out of her that I can.

just make sure you use all the lYrium veins becouse the boss can use those for a nasty AoE attack.

Yep, keep Branka the hell away from active Lyrium veins. Focus fire on the golems while your tank keeps Branka aggroed, then attempt to stun her or paralyse her if you can in order to lower her DPS while you whittle her down.

Monumently embarrassed at being the grave digger, sorry.  Posted Image

Downside of using the search function....

Why don't they just delete them when they are old, rather than let idiots like me dig them out of the ground?

this is a tough battle. Took me about 6 attempts at level 17. But I didn't realize the lyrium veins could heal as well as restore mana. Geez, which I'd have known that, I probably could've cleared it in one.

Anyway: pc warrior, morrigan, alistair and oghren. definitely take out the enemy golems first. start w/the regular ones, them do the yellow ones. I found it helped to begin this by supporting the golems who were battling for you. Use cone of cold or similar to keep branka out of the picture as much as possible while doing this. Alistair used his bow until the golems were down, then switched to axe and board. my pc warrior is a high-dex two-weapon specialist, but switched to the mace some against that golem armor.

Also, most of my morrigan's spells are attacks but i have given her a heal spell as well. I was able to complete this fight using just one health poultice -- a potent one. But I did use 3 greater mana poultices as Mo was casting constantly and i didn't always have time to get to a lyrium vein then reposition her for a CofC attack, for example.

Best of luck. Some very cool cutscenes follow!

dont bring shale and lie to him later say caradin killed himself.

i struggle at orzamar with choices

bhelen is a little good and does help the castless and orzammar thrives but is a little hard to side with unless you're a dwarf commoner
harromont is honorable but useless
caradin is good but the anvil greatly helps orzammar thus branka is a good choice
