Polearms and spears would be fun too. Hell polearms for two handed weapons, and spears would make nice thrown weapons as a decent alternative for warriors who don't like the bows or crossbows.
Katanas would be fun too, but let's not forget something like lightsabers either! I mean heat a sword long enough in the core of the earth and it can slice through anything. lol

That being said, weapons like Vigilence were absolutely awesome. I would love to see more creative and unique weapons like that.
just my two cents.

I'd like to see more quest weapons, more "epic" weapons and the like. A huge part of the game for me is seeking that ultimate sword or bow or staff. I would spend hours extra just attaining those sorts of things. I was a little bit disappointed with how bland some of the quest weapons were in DAO and how most of the higher level swords looked the same as the generic steel versions.

Just on the off note...
I loved how ultimate armor and weapons worked for end game. But in the case of Awakening, the color coding for Vigilance mixed with Sentinel's Armor SUCKED!! They looked awesome on their own, but together, it was like placing pizza and ice cream mixed into one "lovely, hurl colored" dish.
They should add the option to customize the color scheme of certain weapons to mix in with armor in case they are "eye sore" different from each other.

I wouldn't mind seeing polearms/spears/halberds in the game. Never really played a warrior character that used those, and I was a little disappointed when the landsknecht kit was removed from Icewind Dale II during development. (Granted, all kits were removed when they switched to D&D 3.)
Considering how the dev mention "sparta like fighting" i must say im hoping for a spear and shield combo, yum yum i would love to see that.
Since they (any) always seem to make spear's a 2h weapon in rpg's, soo annoying.

Wands, my mage want to hold a shield for better protection D:
That would actually be really cool. I think the magi need something to actually protect themselves from melee combat.. instead of just standing there in nothing but robes waving a staff around.

@OP: That fire attack is a spell, not a weapon. When Victor (I think it was him) posted the new art announcement, he mentioned it being new concept art of magic in action.

the naginata looks pretty sick! I hope it can act as your staff as Spellweaver did in DAO.
They should definitely make a warrior version too.

I think katanas would be intense.. I never saw any in Origins though. They should also come up with some better mage robes, the ones in Origins pretty much sucked.. What they should really fix was not being able to cast spells if you had a melee weapon equipped. I always had to sheath it back up then cast a spell, then take it back out.
Katanas and Samurai swords would be BOSS for a 2H warrior. Especially if their attack speed would be faster than a normal great sword or axe, because they are skinnier than normal swords.

Guns
i dont see why,
1) we kinda live n medievel age style
2)what do we need bow and arrow for then?
3) it just dont fit lol
and halberds do work in my opinion if its for both mages and wariors.
peerhaps its sorta of a specialisation? like the arcane warior but then 10 times better
Qunari have Guns
No, they only have cannons on their ships I believe.

Edit: And not a new weapon, but maybe a mage archer specialization that lets mages add magical effects to their arrows.
