Downloaded Patch 1.04 a few days ago and have been trying to play through awakening (still havn't made it through the entire game even though i've owned it for several months due to these crashes). Been running well at first, but then I entered the wending wood and got the elf mage in my party and from there it now crashes exact same as before.

The crashes themselves freeze my entire pc, the clock on my second moniter is frozen, and the audio cuts out into this buzzing noise over my speakers and doesn't go away until I turn of my pc manually and restart. I have no clue what's causing this, on top of this the game seems to be lagging more so than before. Before I could play with smooth FPS on highest settings with no problems (AA and all that turned up), now it seems to run pretty choppy even though my CPU moniter says that my CPU is running about the same load as before (around 75-85%)

My specs:

Win7 64bit
AMD 9850 Phenom x4 2.5GHz
6GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM
Two Radeon HD 3870 Video cards running in crossfirex with 10.6 ATI Drivers
Running on a 1TB Seagate Hard Drive

Any idea what's going on BIOWARE???? I would like to play this game that I purchased from you guys without crashing every ten minutes. I tried using the memory patch lsited somewhere else on the forums, the one with the fallout3 mod regarding memory usage. I used that for patch 1.03 though, so I may try again, even though before it didn't do anything.

What happened to the days when you could install a game and just play it? Seems this is a trend umong all game developers now.Posted Image

Patch 1.04 updated the audio drivers that the game uses. It's a bit of a long shot, but I suggest trying to update your system's audio drivers. These can be obtained from Creative, Realtek and other web sites, depending on which audio solution you have (you can find out by checking in Device Manager if you don't know).

1.04 is bad for a high amount of players, the memory leak has apparently (IMHO) been brushed under the carpet and a work around they did has made the engine very unstable.

Most of the CTD's in 1.03 and 1.04 are from specific spells and skills being used. I think from reading skills from Alistair and spells from Wynne seem to be the repeat offenders.

For me this has been an awakening issue only. The game never crashed in regular origins, just awakening. Origins would however slow down tremendously over the course of a few hours of playthrough gaining more and more lag as I went.

I'm extremely upset Bioware hasn't made an efficent patch for either of these great games. I would love to actually see what happens in awakening, but apparently they don't really care. They're gonna keep releasing mediocre patches that do absolutely nothing, and I, for one will NOT be purchasing Dragon Age 2, not with a customer experience like this.

Is there a roll-back option? Posted Image How do we get the stuipd thing off other than saving character data and uninstalling and reinstalling...?
