I signed up for the newsletter before this was announced. Do I still get the item?

Signing up to the news letter just appears to enable the "newsletter" communication option in your ea account. I just checked and it is now enabled (I always disable communication emails) so I assume that is how people can check. I assume we'll get all EA news.

Edit: Just to clarify, it is the "contact options".

That makes sense - I was wondering where EA emails about other games were coming from.

I would have loved to have known about this sooner. So, is DA2 going to have all kinds of "free" items in so many random places there is no way to have it all just like DA1? Well, nice to know I'm starting off already having missed out on special content. This combined with the loss of custom protagonists really had me less than enthusiastic about DA2.

The item might not be hugely powerful anyway, can't imagine them having an ultimate weapon as a free item.

Really? I haven't been following news much, but I read that some random guy named Hawke was going to be the main character.  One of my favorite things about DA:O was the ability to create my own character.  Regardless, I don't want to turn this into a rant on that. I saw there was another thread devoted to just that sort of ranting.

There's a lot of that around these forums.
Hawke a fixed last name like Shepard is the fixed last name in ME.
DA: O had fixed last names (for human noble anyway), so there doesn't sound like there will be much difference from the info announced so far.
