Their fingers probably have more muscles and/or dexterity which lets them grip things.

As for music, maybe Quarian music is purely percussion, no strings.

But knowing the Quarians interest with technology, maybe its all synthesized.
Quarians love techno

I'm sure quarians have instruments that work with three fingers. Not all instruments are human ones....

They designed all their technology to be gripped and controlled with three fingers. Stuff designed by humans would be difficult for them to handle with a significant degree of dexterity.

Come to think of it, rubbish three-fingered musical instruments might explain the awful synth music in Chora's Den and Flux.

There is a mechanic at my work that only have tree fingers on one hand (lost the the two others in a accident) and he is doing just fine.

You're thinking from the point of view of having 5-fingered hands yourself.

They all evolved with 3-fingered hands, and their tech, etc, would be designed to reflect that.

Things like the input panels on a starship would be universal I would imagine

I doubt it...  humans can use most of their technology only using thumbs and index fingers with ease

like a simple cell phone... needing only your thumbs and index fingers to work it... like a easy to use iphone or blackberry or something

He lost two fingers on one-hand to a fire, but he uses that hand for finger-placement on the strings.
