You don't get to romance him, but he has a sexy voice and accent and a confident way about him.  He's not handsome- but if you played KOTOR, think Canderous.  I found him very appealing in a gruff, older man kind of way.  He also has a nice ass.  Yes, I did say that.

It took me a few plays to warm to Zaeed, but then I took him with me on Jack's loyalty trip.  I've become a fan and go to talk to him often.

Wow, I just finally caught wioth this thread since last night. You ladies have been working hard.

And in that spirit of imagination I have thought of a LI that I believe most ladies will enjoy:

- A Wolverine-esque character ala Hugh Jackman that stays in camp and wanders around wearing only a pair of snug fitting jeans. He will volunteer to rub your shoulders after a hard day's work, make sure your pillow is fluffed and there are no darkspawn in your bedroll. Also, he will occasionally poor a bucket of water over his head for no particular reason other than to garner your admiration as his pecs gleam ever so nicely in the moonlight. Button-down shirt and 5 o'clock shadow is optional and accessed by a toggle switch in the options menu.

I'd love to have an LI something like Daveth. A little perverted, straight-forward, not too high brow. I've always loved his accent/manner of speech, too.

Lol, same here, Daveth.  I am in the midst of writing a fanfiction about him.  Rawr!

Daveth.  Yes this type would be nice.  I liked his speech to Ser Jory about being willing to die to end the blight.  I was a bit sad when he did die.

ROFL.  I like how you think.  5' o clock shadow is mandatory in my party, though, ya hear? And big rough hands, and.... oh, dear. Image IPB

Dragon Age guys all have big hands, remember? :P Mostly so they can hold your gigantic ox hands.

I've played KOTOR2 a 2nd time a few months ago I liked a lot of the dialog in it, and I get to the ending and remembered why I didn't play it more...

Ah yes, the ending.  What disappointed me the most is that your party members, for the most part, basically just disappear, after all the time you took to build them up and possibly make them Jedi.  Apparently, they were all supposed to have their own little parts to play, but that was mostly cut from the game.Image IPB

Exactly.  It made no sense.  I kept waiting to at least fine a note or see a dead body.  Nothing.  Really too bad.

Hmm, so is Zaeed sort of the Shale to ME2?   I don't mean in terms of sexy, but that you can't imagine the game without them once you've added the DLC?  I ask because I haven't started ME2 yet, and wondering if I should just get his DLC before I even play the game.

Well, I personally wouldn't say that. He has the sexiest voice actor, but Shale had about one hundred times more content. And you don't actually get to talk to Zaeed, unfortunately; you can click on him and he tells you stories about his mercenary days but it's all this passive third person thing. I would have loved more from him, but I've never really been super impressed with the ME2 team when it comes to quality of content anyway. :(

So, yeah, if you got a couple bucks to spare and enjoy the ME series, I'd say it's not a bad decision. But Shale, to me, was waaay more hilarious and vital in every way than Zaeed was.

... Oh, but I have to say it's totally awesome to hear him say, LET'S GO BE BIG GODDAM HEROES. Seriously, such an awesome VA.

I think Zaeed is one of those polarized characters - you either love him or hate him.  I wasn't reminded of Shale at all with his character, not nearly as snarky, plus his on-ship dialogue is basically him talking about various items in his cabin.  I'm kind of bias though, as Zaeed ticked off my femShep on his loyalty mission - I won't say more due to spoilers, but overall, I think his character is worth checking out.  He definately adds flavor when you take him on missions.

Edit:  Argh my ability to edit sucks.  Sorry.

I do like Zaeed as a character, and he does have some qualities that can be considered attractive.  However, he is not the type of person I would want to romance.  What he does during his loyalty mission is...disturbing.

Zaeed comes with a mission that has a huge paragon/renegade shift, though I won't say what that decision is. I wouldn't compare his presence to Shale, because her story has more depth (plus, you get to actually talk with her), and Zaeed is a merc who's just getting paid to join you. You can't interrogate him outside of his missions, aside from listening to him ramble on about old war stories. But he carves out his own niche in the story. And he'll make you dig deep to make a big decision. IMO you should shell out the extra for Zaeed and Kasumi. They both have solid missions. Kasumi's is very creative.

It was kinda cool how the rough-around-the-edges former street thief turned out to be braver and perhaps more principled than the guy who was supposed to be a knight.

Agreed!  They are both worth it, but I especially love Kasumi--she is a fun character and her mission was very different from the norm.

My thoughts exactly. He's an amusing comrade in arms, but I wouldn't want to romance him for the very reason you're talking about. He's got some... morality issues that bother me. Yeahh.

But the concept behind him is something that is appealing to me - just not Zaeed himself. Does that make sense? Someone tough with a gravelly voice, hardened by fighting, odd sense of humor, and does so love the wimminz. Someone that sweats metaphorical testoserone, hur hur.

Right on.  Jory was pathetic.  Daveth really put him in his place.  And even then, he hemmed and hawed.  Daveth was charming in his way.  I wondered, though, what the deal was with all the rogues without lockpicking skills.  It appeared to be a curse common to Zevran, too.  Maybe there's something in the water in certain parts that makes the hands all fumbly.

Yea, Zevran told the Warden that he had lockpicking skills...but he didn't. Meanwhile, Leliana had lockpicking skills instead. wat

Oh yeah, if I thought Zaeed was a good guy at heart, I think he'd make a great romance (I get that some people don't care about this--after all, some people really like Bishop).  He has a lot of elements that I think are attractive, like his voice and somewhat casual attitude.

Yes.  This.
I was rather distraught about losing Daveth, and Jory was all talk and looked like he had jaundice.  Superficial, I know, but I really disliked Jory's character and he sucked at tanking.
And nimble fingers are a must with rogues.  I wondered the same thing regarding that phenomenon as well.

I know...I distinctly remember being disappointed about how Daveth couldn't open the locks I found in the wilds.  Same with Zevran, although in his case you could at least improve him if you wanted to (I just left that to Leliana).

I think that Zaeed is a mish-mash of the bad boy and grizzled war vet rolled into one.  Throw in a sexy voice and make him a bit jaded and I can see the attraction.
As for Bishop, I think the appeal was that he was a true bad boy and made no apologies for it.  I think a lot of women are drawn to bad boys because they want to be the one to tame him.  A true bad boy, however, will never be tamed.  It's more about the thrill of the hunt than forming a mature and healthy relationship.

I see Zaeed as sort of a rough and tumble good time in the lower decks kind of guy as opposed to the love-you-for-the-rest-of-your-life type. I can picture a fun interlude with Shepard once in a while being their dirty little secret.

I hate this trope. I hate it. I've seen as much as I can take of it. Maybe in another ten years I'll be okay with it again, but at the moment I just want this trope to die a horrible, painful death.
