A LI like sir jory would be nice for females. A loving father, caring husband, fat, bald, and a bit dumb.

That would get you ladies more prepared for what's coming in real life :D

A dwarf. Please.

This, too! Ever since I saw the first pieces with Varric in them, I remembered just how much I love dwarven men.

I vaguely remember being informed that some of the staff had referenced including a dwarven love interest, at some point, in the Dragon Age series, though I don't have the source of it at hand.

It would be really nice, and I think a lot of the community would appreciate seeing such a well-done and fleshed out society continued in some way in DA2.  Bonus points if, you know, Hawke can bang him or her.

I remember hearing about this! I believe it was not long after Varric's concept art showed up around these parts. It pleases me to know that this wasn't just some figment of my spiffily-dressed-dwarf-lovin' imagination.

I'd love to have an LI something like Daveth. A little perverted, straight-forward, not too high brow. I've always loved his accent/manner of speech, too.

Same here, actually.  Not surprised he (apparently) has a small fanbase.

Heh, me too. Boy, was I raging during the Joining.

As for the male Li, I'd LOVE to see a character like Metal Gear's Vamp. Insane and creepy yet elegant and soft-spoken. Bonus points for being voiced by Phil Lamarr and looks similar to this:

Well for male romances, for me Alistair was such an breath of fresh air from Bioware's usual female male romance partners in their past games Carth, Carth 2.0 aka Kaidan, and "the prize" Jacob.

I wouldn't mind someone funny and kind like Alistair again, but I don't want an copy of him with a brand new ponytail and magic stick aka Anders. Just continue to try new things Bioware and I'll be happy. . .eventually lol

Quoted for truth. He was awesome with my Cousland [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie]  Would love to have a romanceable character somewhat like Alistair.

I've resolved not to get attached to any of the characters in DA2 until I know they survive. First Daveth dies in the Joining. Then King Cailan gets squashed by an ogre. So I say, "no more! I'll have no more of this!" Then I meet Ser Otto.

Yup.

I'm still ticked off about that.

Oh, but what an imagination that must be!  And to think, we were stuck with someone so poorly dressed as Gorim until Varric showed up.

GOORRRIMMMM.  You just don't have a snazzy coat.

Just for freshness's sake, I'd like to see a Bishop or an Atton. Or, like I said on another one of these threads, even an Ozai-esque Evil Bastard.

Couldn't it be argued that Atton Rand was a softie at heart, too?  I definitely don't think he comes anywhere near Bishop.

I suppose.  But Atton left to his own devices was a selfish, unheroic, sorta Chaotic Neutral jerk.  You really, really had to work at it if you wanted him to soften up.  Or if you so desired, you could make him worse

I could also go for a Haer'Dalis sort of guy.  Basically, I want something other than a nice boy.  I've got one in real life and he's adorable, but video games are where I get to do things I could never do in real life.

I'd like to see a more mature, veteran Knight type. Not in the way of the over-the-top tough guy, but John Marston from Red Dead Redemption and Big Boss/Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid. A character like that would have a pretty strong opinion and views.

While he may not have a snazzy coat, he most certainly has DAT VOICE. Which may very well be the silkiest darn thing that's ever reached my ears. Oh, Steve Blum, ilu.

Plus, if Gorim had that coat, the world would probably crumble in on itself. Too hot.

Alistair is by far the best male love interest a Bioware game has ever seen, a-DOR-able.

Of course, don't repeat yourself. But romantic + goofy = swoon.

Please not too much angstiness. Even Alistair had just about the maximum allowable angstiness!

I would very much like a female elf love interest. For both MHawke and FemHawke.

I have a terrible, terrible habit of getting easily attached characters no matter how minor. Usually the ones who end up dead few hours or minutes later (Cailan and Otto, as you pointed out).
The biggest offender had to be Joseph Frost from the very first Resident Evil. He spends, about 2 minutes or so on screen before getting ripped to shreds by zombie dogs. And that was in the intro movie. Still, it didn't stop me from letting out a "big NO" and getting majorly pissed.
Damn youse video game devs, damn youse! Image IPB

See, Varric's coat--and general concept art style--remind me too much of Uncle Iroh from Avatar. But he is still the snazziest.

In that case male characters should be given a female questgiver :D All would be like IRL then.

Ser Otto was cool, nothing like a blind fighter. I just hate how short his story was; sort of like Mhairi.

I'd love to have a nerdy mage type for my warrior maiden. That would be awesome.

I personally, am partial to thieves (who doesn't like a man with Deft Hands?) and evil, murderous rogues who love you never go out of style (ohai2u Atton!). Bards are nice too - a male one would be a nice change.

But mostly, I support more love interests in general. It is a fun and easy way to add a new dimension to a story. And 10 years of celibacy is bad enough in real life; I don't want to do it in a game.

Alistair was particularly good as far as romances go, because Steve Valentine made him incredibly charming and goofy.

However, I found he did not suit a lot of my characters after a certain point when I started role-playing them in a les idealized light (save for one elven mage with a skewed sense of duty and abandonment issues).  My favorite thing about Al at this point is that he's a good friend to have, affable and somewhat upbeat when he has finished grieving.  He makes the game a much lighter place, as do the rest of your companions.  I wouldn't play it without them, but I don't have an Alistair *spark* like I used to.

Really though?  I'd prefer the more 'casual' encounters where it's less obvious that you're in ~twue wuv~ and more about a physical connection or sexual attraction.

For what it's worth, I didn't like the gift system, though I opt not to use it any longer, personally.
