Morrigan's was my favorite.  You could hear the tears choking her voice when she said that while she may not always deserve the Warden's friendship, she would always cherish it.  Props to Claudia Black.  I was so sad when she left, and I wasn't even romancing her.

I want a romance that develops subtly and organically, the way some of the friendships do.  What bothered me most about some of the romances in the ME series was the "love at first sight, sex before imminent doom" quality they had.  They felt rushed, desperate, and forced.

Indeed, and I thought it was really cool that she regarded me as a sister, and thought I was obviously more potent than the men I traveled with the day we met in the Kocari Wilds.  She was a fantastic character and I look foward to seeing more of her.

Agreed. I totally despised her in my first playthrough but in my second I was really close to her- it was great to see another side to a character I thought I'd set my opinions about (kudos to BioWare for replayability).

The friend tracks were arguably more interesting in their complexities than the romances in DA:O, but I don't think that getting rid of them altogether is needed- if they just made them a little more interesting than 'here's a present/let's go to the tent' that'd work for me. Agree with Sable Rhapsody on that one too, the gift shortcut makes it too easy to be satisfying.

I want some qunari man-beast in my tent. The very fact that the sex would be painful I think wouls only add to the fact that the relationship isn't about the sex, and doesn't actually needed to be consummated for it to be an actual romance.

Believe me when I say that I loved Alistair, and I found myself going 'd'awwwwww' with every romantic line he spouted, but I couldn't help but feel like he was so misguided because of his inexperience with love. Because it felt sort-of like puppy-love to me. Does he even know what it is? But that's just me ranting, but to me, it felt a lot more personal with Zevran, because he knows what he could be with anyone and everyone else, but he chooses the warden (and doesn't break-up with her over her infertility...just sayin')

But, before I get off-track again, I would like to see the 'stoic' type, like sten's attitude without the buzz-killi-ness. Maybe it's just me, but I love the "you taught me how to love " archetype. I'm trying to think of more, but the only other one running through my head is "nerd gets the girl"

BTW, I'm feeing embarressed admitting that I found that redesigned qunari (who is POSSIBLY a party member) extremely sexy?

Am playing NWN2 currently....I want a Bishop :x

I mean, even if people hate him, I really appreciate his "tell it like it is" attitude. It's refreshing. The negativity could maybe be toned down but I like his realistic view point. That and I'm a sucker for dark haired guys with a little scruff (as opposed to the dead cats attached to certain npc's chins that around the forum loves to go on about...I'll never be able to wrap my head around that) the edge of their faces.

PSHAW.  I think the newly redesigned qunari are sexy-fine, and it's nothing to be embarrassed over :D

Bad boys are great.  Not so much IRL, but they're fun in video games where it's impossible for you the player to get actually burned with fire. And I think scruff is very sexy when done right, though I prefer clean-shaven.

You can have a realistic viewpoint without being a sociopath.  Just saying.Posted Image  To say that Bishop has negativity that could be toned down seems to me like a bit of an understatement.

So did I.  I did like Zev.  But he isn't my type.  I felt sorry for him in the fade and liked him, but on the other hand, I had no trouble killing him.
I hope they give us the ability to be friends with anyone we don't romance, as long as our personalities work, and if we are at opposite ends I'd like to be able to dispatch them, both good and bad LI.  At least ask them to leave or not recruit them.

I liked being Morrigan's sister.  Love Claudia Black's voice.
I hope with a 10 year life span they will develop the friendship first and then romance if you want it.  I enjoyed the romance in ME1.  ME2 not so much.  I also felt some of them seemed desperate.  Maybe they were supposed to but any of my Shepards who had a romance in ME1 had no problem staying true to them.

Not that I have a big problem with we are going to die tomorrow lets have sex tonight idea.  It's been around a long time.  I just prefer a more optimistic view, that we might survive and I don't want to think omg what was I thinking.

Well maybe it's just me then, i haven't gotten super far into the game but from what i've seen, even if he is rude i always think about his words and most of the time think..."hm, he's right." yeah, he is kinda perma pmsing but really, i like that he would rather have people hate him for who/what he is than kiss people's asses and have people love him for who he is not. i do think a lot of it is for show too and he bses just to show how much of a tough guy he is.

if you are talking about the scuffy guy, i mean bishop. he doesn't look clean shaven (at least to me). if you are talking about the dead cat comment, i mean duncan from DAO. not sure why people are hung up on the beard so much.

I got bored and came up with the types of characters I would find interesting and enjoyable as LI.  I’m including men and women, though I’m primarily interested in the guys.  I don’t know if any of them can be considered “bad” but some of them I could see going either way.

I never realized how many I found attractive.  Most of them seem to be smart and deadly capable. But they all have what I find appealing in a fictional LI.:)

Han Solo (Harrison Ford)- Yes, saw Star Wars IV somewhere around 19 times and first movie I went by myself to see.
Malcolm ‘Mal” Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) Enigmatic Caption, efficient leader and skilled.
Jayne Cobb (Adam Baldwin) Firefly - hired muscle refered to as the man who will ask he questions no one else will
Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) All of them - He’s smart, can handle himself in any situation.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) NCIS  - does have a dead family but does not talk about them, not that I would mind.
Eli (Denzel Washington (Book of Eli)  This character was super.  The ending was great and he can definately take care of himself.
G. Callen (Chris O’Donnell) NCIS LA - no wife, no kids, dependable, can melt in the crowd and deadly.
Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) NCIS LA  - I just like him.  He’s like a deadly teddybear.
Richard Riddick (Vin Dessel) Pitch Black and other Riddick movies/video games He also plays D&D
Frank Martin (Jason Statham) Transporter movies.
Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser) Mummy  I liked the play between Rick and Evelyn
Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) BuffyTV Librarian with a dark past.
Riley Finn (Marc Blucas) BuffyTV  Military guy wore a cowboy outfit and was able to realize that not all demons are evil idea.
Angle (David Boreanaz) AngleTV Once he was away from Buffy he developed a sense of humor.
Daniel "OZ" Osbourne (Seth Green) BuffyTV Do I need a reason - I wanted him for my step-daughter. :)
James Bond (Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Daniel Craig)  Each of them have different qualities

These are the CowBoys - Quiet
The Man with No Name (Clint Eastwood) Fistful of Dollars; Few Dollars More & Good/Bad/Ugly  OK sort of a cult fan.  No past, no talk just shoot and occasionally help someone.
Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman)  Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Chris Adams (Yul Brynner) Magnificent Seven
Vin (Steve McQueen) Magnificent Seven
Bernardo O’Reilly (Charles Bronson) Magnificent Seven
Matthew Quigley (Tom Selleck) Quigley Down Under
Women I would find interesting as LI or just friends.:)
Zoe Alleyne Washburne (Gina torres) Firefly - warrior
Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) Raiders of Lost Ark - She can outdrink a man 3 times her size.
Evelyn Carnahan (rachel Weisz) Mummy - what a libraian.
Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) SW - The first time I saw her she grabbed the gun and started killing troopers.  I wanted to do that.
Ziva David (Cote De Pablo) NCIS - she is strong, passionate and deadly.
Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) NCIS - smart, and those shoes and style.  Mage with style.

edit - cleaned it up I hope.

YES.

And I could see this character going either way depending on the interaction with Hawke.  He has a dark past working on redemption and Hawke can take him back to the darkness or help him work for humanity.  :) So looking forward to seeing what we get and keeping my fingers crossed that there is more than one option.

I sense a lot of love for Joss ^_^

And very much yes on the Han Solo.  Part of the reason why I loved Atton Rand so much was because he was halfway between Han Solo and Bishop.  Roguish and snarky like Han, dark past and dangerously slippery like Bishop.  *swoon*

All right, I'm not going to spoil the game for you.  However, I do think you (and some other people) have a very, very generous opinion about the type of person Bishop is.  I am thinking of the Draco in Leather Pants trope from the TV Tropes website.  I'll just say I don't think it's an accident that he was given the Chaotic Evil alignment, and that there are character types that don't fall into the categories of either "asskisser" or "evil sociopath."

You are of course entitled to your opinion, it's just that the love people have for Bishop (as a possible love interest, mind you, not just as a character) is a bit of a head-scratcher for me, personally.  It's like the idea of a Cullen romance for some other people here (I'm hardly pro-Cullen, but at least he started off nice).

OK, got it, thanks.Posted Image  Personally, I'm indifferent to "the Beard," but it does look great on Duncan.

Yes, Joss love is definitely there.   And I think Han was my first movie crush.  I was a late bloomer 26 and had never had a movie crush like it before.  I also liked Atton in fact he was about the only one I did like.  I of course turned him towards the light.    I made up my own ending because the game one sucked.

If we're talking Buffy, I'd like me some Spike - last season, after he's done with the whole stalker bit.  While I like Angel's character, he just seemed too willing to wallow in his ability to achieve true happiness, which can be a bit redundant....and would explain the continued wallowing.  And I love Gile's character.  His first season seems to channel the highly requested nerdy mage.

Spike. Yes. I much preferred him to Angel in the end (er, not counting psychotic Spike or attempted rapist Spike, of course) - and after all, he went out and fought for his soul, which was a great plus for his character imo. That scene with Buffy was just about the sexiest damn thing I've ever seen on television.

Another character I loved was Wesley - but not as he was in Buffy. I loved the evolution of the character in Angel from total wimp to ruthless badass.  Since DA2 spans a decade, I'd love to see character development like this among the companions/LIs.

There are some excellent characters here.  Someone else I also found interesting was Gil Grissom (William Petersen) from CSI - would definitely fit the slightly older, intellectual type that I'm very fond of

That world work for me.  :)  I talked my step-daughter into dressing as her one halloween.  She was so cute with the head buns and blaster.
