He then leaves for Par Vollen, because he's the bastard ashkaari lord and can't rule with your non-qunari ass. You decide it's better to go with the lesbian love interest.

That's it.  A giant conspiracy.  BioWare is trying to makes us all lesbians.  Even the guys will become lesbians.

No! Transvestites, which are like male lesbians.

Have another win cake.  OR DEATH! :D

I don't know if I should celebrate or cower in horror.

A male lesbian/transvestite/qunari conspiracy? I'm so very, very confused....

Male romance includes lesbians.

Female romance includes...lesbians.

Everybody wins. :wizard:

I sitting here trying to imagine how things would go if Bioware added transvestite companions, especially if they had a sort of wierd voice that didn't give them away instantly. Can anyone imagine the reaction on these forums from fans when they start to romance someone a girl/guy and then later find out the companions is a guy/girl? Somehow I don't think the community would respond well to that.

Transvestite != transgender.

Doesn't sound like much fun in a rpg. Plus the fist time we change their armor we would know. Unless we don't get to upgrade our companions armor and weapons. Or unless they go the "as you like it" route, but really, no, I'd rather not. Did we just jump the shark, I wonder.

While I, personally, am not favoring a Varric romance, some ladies are.

If I did, it would be because I'm grasping at straws, dammit, and in desperation with the introduction of male NPCs! Image IPB

I simply don't know enough about him to say whether or not he'd be a good romance.  They are selling him as a "cool" character, though.Image IPB

Anything that is dwarf or has stubble (Not as cool as a beard, though) is cool.

I'm incline to agree.

Being very judgemental, since I do not know anything about him, he looks like a smirking 70's player getting ready to go to the disco.  Unbuttoned shirt, hairy chest, jewelry.  <sigh> He may be very exciting and grand, but  I hope we have more choices.

Does it count as necromancy?

VITAE...MORTIS...CA---

Eh.  Too much work to actually remember the damn incantation   And if the devs think it's necromancy, they can unlock it and we'll start a new one.

Dunno if this has been asked yet, but what are some qualities of other video game romances y'all have really enjoyed?

I love snark.  LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  Anyone with snark gets pretty far in my book.  Atton, Alistair, Zev...hell, even Carth had some good snarky lines, though I hated him with a furious burning hate of a thousand suns.

I've also found that I'm a sucker either for good guys or bad boys.  Bishop being the prime example of sexy bad boy.  But most of my favorite guys tend to just be plain GOOD.  Good in an inexplicably sincere, almost incorruptible sort of way.  Alistair is the prime example, but Nathaniel and Garrus too--they have this weirdly dogged goodness to them, even when they mess up and things don't go their way.  Hell, you kill Nathaniel's father and he still can't bring himself to kill you in cold blood.

Snark? Oh yes, more please!

As far as other video game romances that I've enjoyed, I'd have to say I liked Kaiden in ME - not the whole thing though as its really low key as almost not to be a romance. There is one part where he and FemShep almost kiss and Joker interrupts them. Oh my, that was a great tease!

I also liked Casavir in NWN2. Yes he was kind of boring, but even though my character was a total badass, she was so willing to let him protect her with his Paladin-y goodness. :)

There are a lot of threads like this around though. :/

I still stand by a bad boy character. Zevran wasn't a bad boy, he was sweet inside.

Kaiden was okay. He was a little too serious. I would like a quiet strong type with a sense of humor that sneaks up on you. Looks are secondary as personality and attitude can make anyone schmexy.

I only came back to this board recently (after seeing the DA2 trailer) so I missed out on this thread so far...

I love snark, too. I sincerely hope there's a snarky bad boy in DA2. What I'm specifically hoping for though is a male LI who feels like an equal to my FemHawke. I'm always a bit put off by these games where I'm the leader of the band, and my LIs are all my subordinates in some way (especially so in ME - I can never fully enjoy the romances in ME because I always feel like my Shepherd is abusing her powers as commander [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie]).
It's why I loved Bishop so much, because he never respected the KC's authority (or it at least took him a while to respect her) and challenged her all the time. You were always left wondering about his intentions and motivations, and then he left a HUGE impression by the end of the game.

I did like Alistair because he was a sweety pie, but of course I preferred Zevran overall since there was that potential possibility of him betraying you, and he had to deal with conflicting loyalties, etc.

So... my ideal LI for women in DA2 is a snarky, anti-authority guy with ambiguous morals who will get into arguments all the time with FemHawke (you know, the kind of arguing that is mostly due to unresolved sexual tension [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]).

Naturally, this isn't the type of person I'd want for myself in real life (I'd actually go for an Alistair IRL, to be honest [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]), but when it comes to gaming, bring on the bad boys.

It kinda depends on the character. Kaidan fit perfectly with my Shep. And I cannot bring myself to not romance Alistair.
Overall I'd have to say Bishop is my favorite. I'd love to see someone like him in DA2. Image IPB

Personally, I'd like to see a rouge romance based on someone who is streetsmart, witty/clever and has a reasonably good attitude (no baggage). Someone who knows when to cut the jokes and get down to business and isn't afraid to step out of line and do things without needing me to tell them too. A dark haired, self-reliant theif really. Also, I wouldn't want the person to be really beefy or superlean either. Someone who has a body type in the middle...and no beard or mustache please.

I imagine this kind of a person would be less of a follower and more of an equal and would probably keep some things to himself not out of trust issues, but out of habit from being a thief.

I'd love a sarcastic, laid-back, exiled noble who's not afraid to stand by his actions and opinions. An experienced man in warfare and violent negotiations. Someone who plays jump rope on the line between being an anti-hero and a complete monster as he's capable of extreme brutality in certain situations.
He's not all that bad however. He loves his family deeply and might consider you to be a part of it if you'll warm up to him. And what he loves, he protects with his life.

Here's a sketch of him:

A new Alistair, please

Quoted for truth. He was awesome with my Cousland [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie]  Would love to have a romanceable character somewhat like Alistair.

Me too. Well, not an exact copy of Alistair, but just as loveable: valiant, courageous, honorable, caring, passionate. I want at least one human LI. I like tall men and I would not find an elf or a dwarf attractive if I can only play as human.

*sigh* no, no ...

Hey, have a Ron Perlman type character in there, LI or not and I will buy anything Bioware can sell me ;)
