Varric <3

Yup. This woman wants that style of male right there, please and thank you.

Wait, the Varric from the concept art or the Varric from the actual game?

Cause they look a little different.

Qunari LI would be awesome... except I think they're the bad guys in this game.

And more to the point, they don't have romances. :-/

With regards to them, I recall Mary Kirby saying something to the effect of it being possible, but you'd still have to contend with the fact that they came from a culture where there was no romance.

Oh, I would be willing to teach them. That is most certainly not an issue.

That you're willing to teach them might not be an issue, but the culture they originally came from would still be an issue.  Romance is alien to them--you can teach them about it but that doesn't mean they would necessarily want to partake.

I'm not so much trying to burst anyone's bubble, so much as point out that the culture issue isn't a trivial matter (and remember, we heard this from one of the writers).

Okay, I think I've come up with a recipe for would could be the perfect man based on ingredients that bioware has already provided.

1 part Alistair charm and goofy humor
1 part Zevran smexiness
2 parts Kaidan stoic maturity
Add liberal amounts of Mordin intelligence
Sprinkle varying amounts of Nerd for flavoring
Let simmer for 25-35 years until ready - careful, dish will be hawt

This would make me very very happy.  I would add a bit of romantic teasing like Revan and both Carth and Bastila.

It doesn't end well if one takes everything seriously, especially at times when the aura of mischief is so palpable.

There is also the possibility that the Vashoth you meet is one of the one's who left their society because they had romantic feelings.

It has been said that it does happen sometimes, that rarely a Qunari will act on romantic impulses and those that do either abandon the Qun or get re-educated by the Ben-Hassrath.

It is possible, though super unlikely, that the player character will meet one of these extremely rare Vashoth who already know of romance in some form... maybe...

Scars. Maybe only having one good eye. Bonus if he's an older man. Has battle stories that are so ridiculous they'd have to be true.

Scars can be attractive. A soldier who comes to respect Hawke despite her being younger and a woman.

It depends what you mean by old. 30's I'm good with, 40's or older is to much. Assuming that's how old the character is at the beginning of the game when Hawke is likely in her early to mid 20's.

If it didn't cover 10 years, I'd be ok with 40.  But with the 10 year span, I like the idea of someone between 27 and 33, some of my own personal favorite years.

I wonder if they mean they don't have the capability to feel the emotions romance involves.  Sex yes, but if they don't have a concept of what romance is, you could spend years trying to convey the idea and it just wouldn't compute.

Then that is very wise of you. hehe

On a serious note, I know it's not always easy to tell a lighthearted comment from a serious one when all you got is text, but sometimes it's best not to read into things too much. I was tempted to post something along the lines of "Oh Maker, why oh why didn't you create me as a qunari" when I read that post, for example.

Yeah, it ended up less serious than intended, but there you have it.

"Are you... flirting with me, Sten?" -Female Warden

Qunari feel emotions, that much we know from Sten playing with kittens and sulking when Leliana sings the elven lullaby. Oh, and his obsession with cookies. So, we do know he felt "soft, squishy feelings" that could possibly convert, not necessarily into romance, but respect and love. We have every reason to believe, of course, that a Qunari not being human in any way conceivable way, his version of respect and love are much different from that of a human or elf.

Basically, what we human beings consider to be acts of love may not be so to a Qunari. If a human's loved one was mortally wounded he or she would probably hold them in his or her arms, and comfort them in their dying minutes. If a Qunari's loved one was mortally wounded he or she might kill them as an act of mercy or out of respect.

This is all theory, of course.

Ok, necro-thread resurrection, but if this question is still open, I gotta say:  Any cross of Alistair's personality with Zevran's.  Alistair's romance, honor, loyalty, goofiness, sweetness + Zevran's outrageous flirtations and easy-going attitude = Yes, please!

Not like Zevran, he is funny and a nice character that way, but how can one get to warm without it being turned into "interested" after your first conversations with him.

Not necessarily.  Alpha males can sometimes act as such in order to hide insecurities.  And I don't like onions - they make me cry.Image IPB

Edit:  Back on topic - give me a mature, stoic man who is strong but comfortable giving me the reins.

As long as there is lamppost-licking and leather innuendo I'm happy. That was excellent.

Zev: I miss the leather the most!
Me IRL: Oh this has to be good. Please tell me I can---YES. YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES bahahaha. /click
Warden: Is that some kind of euphemism?
Zevran, Warden and Pseudo: Image IPB

But in all seriousness I'll probably "try everything" for giggles. Bring it on, I'll romance the dog if hilarity was likely to ensue. 'tis but a video game man in a video game setting inside my TV. Though Alistair did kinda tug at my brittle hermit nerd heartstrings a bit. Dangit Steve Valentine.
