A new Alistair, please[/quote
I would like an older Alistair, about 10-15 years of living and maturity. That's one of the things I found appealing on Kaidan, among other things. Both characters were well done.
I'm hoping for more than one type. I'm partial to the Alistair/Kaidan/Thane/Carth/Garrus personality, and most of my characters are attracted to them but one or two prefer the Bishop/Zev personality. Zev more so than Bishop.

The game spans over ten years, so if we meet our romance interest early, I imagine that they'll be pretty young--twenty or so--and of course age up over those ten years.

I wouldn't lump Alistair, Kaidan, Thane, Carth, and Garrus together in the same personality category, except insofar as they're all good guys. Alistair's sweet and awkward, Garrus is badass--and still awkward, Thane and Carth are Woobies, and Kaidan is...well, I dunno what Kaidan was supposed to be. Blandly nice? Slightly brain-damaged?
I could go for something other than a Woobie. BioWare has a metric ass-load of Woobie romance interests, and I'm getting a bit sick of it even though I do love some of these characters. I'd like someone for once who doesn't need Hawke to fix him/her and stands as an equal in strength of character. If there's "fixing" going on in the romance, it had better be mutual.

A LI like sir jory would be nice for females. A loving father, caring husband, fat, bald, and a bit dumb.
That would get you ladies more prepared for what's coming in real life
I'll have to tell my husband you think marriage makes men dumb, fat and bald. Of course one of the nephews went bald at 25. Does pretty well with the women. Nothing wrong with Bald guys. Some of them are pretty darn hot.

Not a guy who tries to be tough, but just is. He should be a good listener & help F!Hawke with her problems (if the player wants her to have any) and acknowledge that she may not be feeling all that great all the time and try to cheer her up, with humor or otherwise. He has his own demons, but he won't burden her life with them - but he'll still be open with her after she's cracked the shell.
He will also lend his own opinion, but will certainly always consider hers. He has convictions, but he does not complain: he just works towards resolutions.
He won't pretend that he has to protect her or that she needs it, but wants to fight alongside her as equals regardless.

I'd like to see a more mature, veteran Knight type. Not in the way of the over-the-top tough guy, but John Marston from Red Dead Redemption and Big Boss/Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid. A character like that would have a pretty strong opinion and views.
Yes. Or the TV character Raylan Givens from Justified or a Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly type would work for me.

I really, really, really want a nerdy mage.
I could see a character something like Amy Acker played in Angel. Fred was cute, smart and nerdy. I could see this type as a mage.

Wow, you've managed to summarize just about exactly what I want for my femHawke in DA2.

Well, I think it's partly escapism. I've been married for 15 years to a man with a heart of gold who is a solid family guy, and the only way I'd ever go for a badass is in a game. No self-loathing or self-destructive tendencies here.
Also married one of the nice ones, will be 21 years in Dec. Still brings me a single rose for no reason, sings me love songs and holds my hand in public.
But I still prefer the nice guys as LI in games too. I tried romancing Zev in DA twice but I really preferred Alistair. and I downloaded the Bishop mod, but never could use it.
I'm hoping they have more than one romance option. While I want someone like Alistair/Carth/Garrus/Kaidan for most of my play throughs, I would also like one available that is not kind and nice. And I'd actually like to either change their outlook for good or bad, or have them refuse to join my group if we are not on the same path.

Good point. Hmm... I'm thinking a nerd in Thedas would be really shy, but has a ton of random information about history and junk. He should also say really awkward things every once in awhile. Aw, I'm terribly at coming up with characters. Let's just throw some glasses on him and call it a day. lol

Sorry, I haven´t played Mass Effect (?) so I don´t know Carth. What was the problem with him?
He's from Knights of the Old Republic, actually (you're probably thinking of Kaidan from ME, whom Raphael Sbarge voices as well as Carth)...but his romance is:
I don't trust you!
I really don't trust you!
I'd tell you why, but I don't trust you!
I still don't trust you, but I guess I'll tell you why!
There's more, but then I'd have to trust you!
It's beyond obnoxious. Every conversation involves him telling you how much he doesn't trust you. I'm amazed Revan was capable of falling in love with him...again, not a hater, but he had some pretty stupid moments.
I always wanted to brush his hair out of the way and he also had some of the best romantic teasing I've seen in a game and I have to admit that humor is one major plus for me. I had so much fun checking out all of the options. yes I am a die hard Cart fan.
Carth: I'm all ears beautiful
Revan (female): call me beautiful again and you'll loose an ear or two
Carth: he he a little touchy are we? alright what would you prefer I call you?
Revan: How about 'gorgeous?' I like that better
Carth: Alright but what would you call me in return?
Revan how about sexist worm?
Carth: Is that it? you can do better then that!
Revan: Brainless lice ridden bantha!
Carth: ouch
Carth: "Don't make me put you over my knee and give you a good slapping."
PC: "Is that a promise?"
Carth: "Oh, don't even go there, sister."

In some other forums, people have been talking about someone from the Anderfells....nerdy elven mage from the Anderfells, give him a Dalish parent.... I instantly imagined brown hair in a ponytail and dark green eyes, and feathers on his robes, sort of like Morrigan, but more because of his Dalish parent....I drew a picture...but he was human...and I used crappy colored pencils....and I can't show anyone because my main computer is busted, and I don't know how... oh well! I'm going to go make a poll of Nerdy Elf mage vs. Bad Boy Chasind Guy

...DO WANT BOTH. Can I run off with both of them? Pretty PLEAAAASE? :innocent:
Also, as for Carth, he did have some pretty fantastic banter. Alas, he is in the boat of Characters Sable Hates Because...She Just Hates Them. For no particularly good reason.

The cowboy/farmer type. Works all day, patient, doesn't complain about small stuff, gruff, well mannered, perpetually coated in a thick layer of dirt.
Or - on the complete opposite end of the spectrum - a slick type. Confident bordering on arrogant, biting wit, classically dressed (like suits and coats), unafraid, and knows how to charm a lady. Closest character I've ever seen to that is Daveth.
If I got either I would just die a little inside.
(And if that super nerdy nerdy nerdy mage looked like Neil Patrick Harris? OH MY DEAR LORD.)

I lump them together because I find them all attractive for various reasons. Among the reasons is some kind of sense of humor. Had to look Woobie up. (a term of endearment (like "baby); someone who is so cute/sad/adorable you want to hug and comfort them) I can go with that. I do find them cute and adorable, even Garrus. I'd take any of the group to watch my back in a fight.. and I'd trust them not to leave if the going got hard.
I don't find the bad boy attractive at all, Zev was ok, I felt sorry for him in the fade but I had no problem killing him either.
I do hope BioWare will give us both.

I understand that they give Good Guys With Loving Romance because options are slim and they want to give the most that they can to the largest audience (and a good happyhappy romance is what will appease the largest audience). However, I do think BioWare is about due for a 'bad boy' romance. I'd love having one for a change.
If there will be a bi male PC and a straight male PC for folks to romance, I'd like to see one of them get their 'grr' on. Heck, even some of the baddest dudes out there are still kittens when it comes to their romantic partner. I am not advocating an abusive relationship, or one where the dude is 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am, I don't want to talk anymore,' or anything like that. But someone that is gruff, steely, austere, action-oriented, morally ambiguous, likes to show his feelings more than say them. Something growly. Would be smexy!
