He seems to be popular. Personally, I find it utterly baffling. Nothing wrong with that, I just don't get it.Aermas wrote...

Varric?
I think it all started with his rather handsome, roguish concept art, and took on a life of its own from there. The devs have said that some of the speculation is pretty accurate, but there is still the danger of building up a character in one's mind before seeing them in the game.

Actually now that you mention it, Cullen was both well voiced and fun to look at.
Agreed, Greg Ellis is an amazing actor. I wouldn't mind if he was in DA2.

One of my fav romanceable characters was Valen (NWN HotU). He was a total bad@ss, he didn't trust you (but gave you a chance), and yet he was slightly self conscious. Cullen in DAO reminded me a little of that personality type, but of course, he wasn't romanceable. I'd love to have another Valen or a chance at Cullen.
I wouldn't agree with the Cullen comparison (the last time I checked, Valen went through a hell of a lot more trauma without ending up all creepy and crazy), but I do agree on Valen's awesomitude. Valen was badass, exuded manliness, gentlemanly, a little dopey, and had a hella sexy voice. Best of all, you could have kind of a slap slap kiss relationship with him if you picked the teasing or sarcastic options and got him all flustered. D'awww.
My problem for DA2 is that if I'm going to romance anyone, it has to be someone who can somehow thaw out a cold, ruthless, ambitious, power-hungry, morally flexible determinator of a FemHawke. Or an evil guy with whom she can cackle evilly. Whee!

Seriously. Who wouldn't want him as their LI for FHawke?
I'm such a sucker for John DiMaggio's voice.

I want a someone who's more like Bishop or Rizdaer (from the Ice Wind Dale II NPC project mod) rather than Zevran or Alistair. A really complex character and someone you can really be careless and carefree with.
Edit: Name on the mod.

I know Varric has got a huge following, he isn't really my first choice but since I guess there will be at least another possible LI I guess that I'll be just fine =) I'll probably make a fem Hawke to romance Varric anyways later on, just to see how it plays out if he's a LI. But what I want, well, not an evil char, doesn't have to be all goody-goody. A strong male character, to balance to fem Hawke =)

I want an LI who is dominant, strong and powerful (maybe even a little dark), and is a leader type, so my pc can sit back and relax for once. A little bad boy attitude is welcome (but god not like Bishop from NWN2 please, he was just plain unpleasant). But a backbone is definitely a must.
That's not to say I don't like the nice guy type like Alistair. My warden pc loves him to death, but sometimes it's just tiring to have to initiate every single thing myself every time (or most of the time at least). I'd like to play a shy, indecisive pc sometimes, and it'd be great to have more choices that support this type of pc.

An idea just popped into my head...nerdy mage has been suggested but what about a MANLY mage? Just because you shoot spells from your fingertips doesn't mean that you're this scrawny, goofy, intellectual whatever type...I loved Kael'Thas character in Warcraft 3. Too bad Blizzard doodooed all over him in WoW *sigh*
And no, I'm not talking about an evil warlock mage guy either. Just simply a male mage who is manly as well. And not wearing a skirt. The biggest problem I have with mages is the physically weak / intellectual stereotype. I *love* my Adept FemShep cos she punches people from time to time too. Why can't fantasy mages move more towards this as well? Most of the time mages feel too much "spam thud thud spell that goes swooosh swoosh" instead of "cast a kick ass spell with a real mofo effect that throws your enemies around like ragdolls".
A manly mage rushing to my aid and throwing a bunch of enemies away from me, crushing them into a wall using some kind of telekinetic spell. Yes no? Imagine that combined with a similar FemHawke. Destructive duo.
