But back to topic, as far as romantic interests go, I enjoyed Alistair the best in DA:O. His romance seemed fleshed out and interesting, not too mention his VA (Steve Valentine I think?) has an incredible voice and did a great job. So great in fact that I would like to keep Alistair where he is - in DA:O. Zev, while fun, just seemed superficial to me and Leliana scared me. For DA2, while I would enjoy a wide variety of romantic interests, I want my bad boy. I want a man who's got a 5 o'clock shadow, rough around the edges, and gritty. I want someone who will try to bully me and respects me even more when I put him in his place. I want someone who can hold their own with my femHawke and be my equal, a man with a rich and detailed background who may even be a bit jaded, but not so much that he would stab me in the back. Also, I would very much enjoy intelligent innuendo in my conversations with him.
If anyone wants to add to my bad boy, please feel free to do so. I shall be lost in fantasy for a bit...

David can write him, please.  Then, when he's finished with DA Garrus, he can sneak over to the Mass Effect 3 writers's cubes and write ME3 Garrus.  That way we'll have something to look forward to other than CALIBRATIONS!

You know, I really loved Garrus as a character but I sort of dislike how the romance was implemented. I don't know, I didn't get the impression that he really loved or wanted my Shep, more just like a "eh why the hell not, let's be friends-with-benefits" kinda thing. Whereas in ALL the DAO romances I really felt like each character loved the Warden. I guess I'm just a romantic or something. But anyway I like the badass in public, dork in private thing. Garrus

what i want in a game or anime is not 100% of what i want in real life. i tend to go for the purdy boys in games/anime tho.
my RL likes have a LARGE range.
but it is true this is a good place to get a rough class in what a lady wants haha.

Someone who gets into trouble and wins, getting out and all the while showing up his opppnents. His life is exciting but he's dangerous enough to survive. He doesn't try to be a badass because he is one naturally alreadt. He doesn't hate authority, authority hates him.

He may be a jerk, but get underneath enough and he'll treat the player like no one else.

Me too.  I liked Garrus a lot.  I did some flirting with him, but I always came out with the impression that he had never thought about Shep as a romance and was not sure it was a good idea.  

With a 10 year span, I wouldn't mind a friends with benefits relationship in DA but I'd like the long term option too.

A cousin of mine very good looking, lived off his girlfriends, got into fights, rode with motorcycle gangs and had an IQ high enough that he graduated from high school at 15.  Put a knife to my throat and said he was just teasing and I never told anyone.  My mom said he must be good in bed, and he said not to do any of the things he did.    I had a terrible crush o him.  This type I get.

As far as I want romances to go In DA2, I want them to be original, not an edition of the previous ones. Yes, Alistair was sweet and I enjoyed his romance, but it was not what I was looking for. Zevran? He was a little bit too… pseudo bad @ss for me although I know a lot of people loved him too.

What would I like to see in RPG games? Here, have a list and after reading your posts I added the ideas of yours I really loved:

1. A nerdy mage. Make him an elf who knows how to use his knowledge of magic, and he’ll be not only in my party, but also in my heart. I’d like him to be the kind of nerd who’s so absorbed in his studying that at the beginning he’s so in love with his magic that he’ll hardly even notice FemHawke. Hell, you can even make him a little bit shy if you want the Alistair fans to have someone like him, but I’d rather like someone who’s oblivious about the player’s love advances.

2. A bad @ss mercenary who’s got the personality of Canderous and Zaeed in one – those two are the type of romance I’ve been wishing for since my early gaming years and that’s more or less about 10 years now. If you’ve played either KOTOR or MASS EFFECT 2, you know who I’m talking about – a hard to beat warrior, with a rough edge, someone who’s not afraid to even kill some innocents to accomplish his goals. Yes, he can kill for money for all I care. He can even enjoy it for some (twisted) reason – as long as he knows how to fight and of what he’s capable, doesn’t suck up to the player, I so want him included. Peaple may hate him, be he could really care less.

3. A quiet, mysterious fighter who’s obviously seen a lot in his years of traveling/fighting. For some reason, I’d like him to be a gladiator for example, or a slave. He wouldn’t openly distrust the player, but just not so willing to part with his history and revel his feelings. I’d like him to be the type who you don’t quite expect to warm up to you but who turns out to be the one you can depend on during the times of need. Make him look somewhere around this lines and I’ll hail Bioware as my new religion:

4. A charming rogue who can talk his way out of almost every situation, someone who enjoys flirting with the player or teasing them with clever innuendos. I wouldn’t mind if he was with Hawke even only for the heck of it, for his own enjoyment (well, maybe some people like to bathe in darkspawn blood and camp in a shady forest where even crazy trees are out to get them – I wouldn’t know) or even for the money and women he can have along the way.

5. Someone who you can have a love/hate relationship with. I love the idea of the player and companion disagreeing in more than one matter, fighting over almost everything and even trying to trip each other up, only to end up sharing a space on the long just right next to the camp fire, where the two of them discover that there’s actually something they have in common too – like, for instant, a deep feeling of hate towards darkspawn or a similar goal in their life.

Another quick note: I don't mind characters with scars. Well, actually, I find them quite attractive as far as the scaring isn't going completely overboard.

Well, okay...my idea of a bad boy wouldn't actually threaten me with a weapon, however, unless it made absolute sense in the plot of the story.
