The Warden as an NPC

With ME2, BioWare has shown a committment to mature, emotionally impactful moments that change their fictional narratives in huge ways that really effect the players. I can't imagine a moment with more impact than standing at odds with the Warden, this character who we formed over dozens of hours, who we are emotionally invested in, and being forced to face them in mortal combat over a huge issue that Hawke and the Warden just can't solve diplomatically. Probably more complicated would be having the warden as an all out party member, but that would also potentially be AWESOME.

Are you forgetting the Warden is mute?
No, we chose a voice for our wardens when we were going through character creation. I especially remember this because mine kept offering me ladders so that I could get off their back.

Besides the extreme new art direction would be a tricky translation.

Are you kidding me? They'd have to hire about 30 voice actors to voice ONE character that has a lot of dialogue. Do you have any idea how much that would cost and how much work is needed ?Coyote Hunter wrote...

more likely the warden shows up as a statue or something for deafeting the blightSable Rhapsody wrote...
I wouldn't mind seeing the Warden unvoiced, as a cutscene or a background NPC. Or even seeing "Hey, here's what the Warden's up to" shots for the time while DA2 takes place during the Blight. But voiced, no. There are better things BioWare can do with their time.

Of course it would be a lot of work, but that's just how BioWare rolls. Thousands of flags in ME were set up to trigger events in ME2, many of which some players will never know about, because they skipped a mission in ME, or only did one play through, or kept completing the same mission in the same way, or didn't even play ME and jumped into the franchise with ME2. That was for many small "a-ha!" continuity porn reactions - putting work akin to that into a single, heavily emotionally charged, unforgettable and defining scene in DA2 just seems like something worth doing.
And besides, there's lots of little shortcuts to take the strain out of it. Instead of bringing back 30 different VA, they could bring back 4 - good male warden/evil male warden, good female warden/evil female warden. Or just use generic voices since nobody would really care about what they sound like, just what they look like and how they behave. This company's clever, I have every faith they could pull it off really well.

Nope, there's about 70 flags transfered and most are from the same quest. Download the save editor to see which choices transferCoyote Hunter wrote...

And you put too much faith in BioWare, you're only going to get dissapointed. I learned a long time ago not to believe BioWare's BS

They're free to build their games and their stories as they please, I'm just a fan. I'd be really happy just to see a statue of my warden as was suggested above, and I can't wait to see how the events in DAO and DAA effect DA2. I'm just sharing what I fantasize would be an intensely dramatic moment, that I also think is also very doable.

Thats, not going to happen. They don't want the Warden to pull any thunder from Hawke. All the chips are in Hawkes hands, lets just hope it's not a utter failure.

You aren't doing a good job of staying gone.

And I was to stay gone.....whatever gave you that idea.....I plan to buy the game like alot of the rest of the people around here, I have no idea who you are but don't start on me with your attacks. I can say what I don't like, just as you can say what you like/dislike, and what you say to me doesn't mean a damn thing, all you are is a name on a sreen and thats it.

I'd rather just have a new game away from the warden to be honest.
Never know they may make a expansion for the Warden, would be nice. I wonder if they will keep going with Hawke, I guess that depends on how the game will do.

Yes even if it would be impossible, I'd use mind magic.

If anyone ever read "A League of Extra-ordinary Gentlemen" by Alan Moore (who in my personal opinion is the WORST comic writer in the history), there was a smart move of NOT including either Sherlock Holmes or Dracula in the stories. The reason was simple. They would uber-PWN the rest.

I'm also not one of those people who thinks the Warden should *definitely* be *better* than Hawke. I don't really care that much. At the end of the day, they are both my characters.
