I stopped playing and modding Dragon Age 3 or 4 months ago, and at the time I don't believe it was possible to access Awakening resources such as attack animations to use them in mods. Has that changed?
I'm thinking about coming back, and I wanted to make a new attack available in each that uses the ranged two-hand attack effect of Sweeping Strike from Awakening.

I've never done a custom attack animation before, so I don't know what files you need exactly. BUT when I was looking for other awakening resources I needed, I came across the anims.erf file from awakening. I assume all you need to do is drop it into the ...\\packages\\override folder to make it work in the toolset.

Also, someone has made a mod that brings awakening talents/skills into origins, using the same animations as in awakening, so even if you can't pull the files you need from the awakening folder, you might be able to use the files from that mod.
